1% percent back everywhere else.

I'm not a retail card kinda person (although I did apply for the BJ's card and still waiting on that letter in the mail), but there are a few items we purchase monthly online from Walmart for delivery, plus CHRISTMAS is COMING. I might step out of my comfort zone for this card, but Captial One has never been kind to us.

DH has 1 card with Cap 1 @ $750, we spend roughly $50-60 per month to keep it active since its his second oldest card (I'm an AU), we asked for an increase recently was denied for "too little spend", they've offered him increases in the past which he denied because he was naive back then and uses chase and Boa (his only 2 other cards) as his primary cards.

Tempting, but I wish the 5% for Walmart stores are not just for the first 12 months, as that is the primary appeal of Walmart to me. If I want online, I'd just shop at Amazon. Introductory Offer periods bother me a lot.

That's exactly why I stopped using my Sync Walmart card. It had a $10k limit, and when I applied for it I just assumed it was 3% all around at Walmart. I quickly realized it was online shopping only, and I don't do that. I don't plan my Walmart trips hours in advance to do "pickup". My Walmart trips are usually last minute, so I just went right back to using my DC for 2% instead of worrying about the Walmart card.

Alredy get 2% at Walmart stores with my bofa cash rewards because it codes as groceries.
so I'll just pass for now.

Us bank code Walmart and Target as 2% groceries too. This card is basically 5% online only, I'd rather get the 2% as I don't shop at Walmart too often, but I shop at Target more.

Both store card and Mastercard will be available.

Since I use my Mastercard primarily for Walmart.com, I can see some benefit from the change as it goes from 3% to 5%. For those of you who do not have a restaurant / travel card, the 2% is a welcome bonus, but there are better cards out there.

5% back instore for a year would be a huge win for me. The bulk of my grocery spend is in store purchases at WM, I am currently using my CITI DC for 2% back. Even the 2% back after the year is good.

I don't want a triple pull, but I might just do it.

If I read the details correctly the 5% for WM Grocery purchases (where you pickup outside the store) will be on-going even after the first year.

This could be a strong option for those who don't have a dedicated 'grocery' card and use grocery pickup (or delivery) via the WM Grocery app.

Yes I might have to start playing with grocery pickup to continue the 5% on at least some of my purchases. Having never done it my concern is that they will subsititue items on me. I just can't see doing our big bi-weekly trip and not going into the store.

@MakingProgress they only substitute with your permission; you can even set it on a per-item or per-order basis (I opt out of substitutions for my entire order).

If it were a always 5% at Walmart in-store card, it would entice me out of the garden in January (after Freedom quarter ends). But 2% won't.

I humbly admit that if I decide to get rid of my Amex Gold next summer (big 'if' there) I might consider the WM card for grocery pickup.

Once the first-year promo is over there will be better options for shopping inside the store, of course.

Also, I suspect at some point they will add a service charge for grocery pickup (there's a place for it now, although it's set to $0) and if/once they start that I'll only need a card for inside shopping, anyway.
