I went through the process of getting my employment history cleaned up, and it didn't matter one iota, as best as I could tell. My scores didn't change, of course, and no lender had ever questioned why I was a manager on one report and a housewife on another.

I think that sort of thing is mainly useful in flagging errors (deliberate or accidental) on your reports. If I see one day that my employment history has added oil well driller or something, I'll know that trouble's on the way.

Screwed-up addresses and SSN's are different --conflicts on those can get you denied or put in the pending pile if the lender thinks things don't match up.

My credit report has an employer from 2 jobs and 10 years ago as the last one. Is this something we ask the reporting bureaus to change or do they find out some other way? Or, does it really matter?

All this credit crap makes me want to pay cash for everything ;-)

It really has no bearing on credit decisions, but for your own personal satisfaction you can change it yourself. I have done it in the past. At least on TU. On TU,you can click on personal info, find work history and there is a delete button. Also, there is an add an employer button. Hope that helps

I updated it on all 3 CRA. But only because I was applying for a mortgage and I wanted to head any potential problems off at the pass.
Message Edited by scorerise on 06-25-2009 01:13 PM
