BB&T CLI experience

Just curious if anyone has any experience.

DH's account hit six months, I don't see a CLI request button and trying to avoid any more HPs.

I am just wondering if anybody knows if they give automatic increases at 6 months, do you have to request one?

Just looking for experience with this card and there doesn't seem like alot of info on this bank.

Auto-CLIs are rare with BB&T. HP for CLI requests (by phone... no linky, unfortunately). Some accounts may be eligible for a CLI request (HP) within 6-12 months.

Maybe things might change with the SunTrust upcoming merger. We can only hope plus a nice revamp with their online experience 😁

I'm still new to BB&T, but I have to give credit where credit is due. Once I hit the MSR for the Travel Rewards card sub, I received the bonus the next day. The only issue I've had so far is having to put the routing and account number for the account I want my rewards sent to when it's a BB&T account. I find that ridiculous. Otherwise, I've been content with them. Rewards redemption is straight forward. I Redeemed my rewards yesterday, and they were in my account this morning.

Update: Okay, I just realized that the rewards are done by a different company than BB&T. This explains why I had to put in my routing and account number when it's a BB&T account.

LMAO.... I opt out of all e-mails from banks for that reason alone. I don't need you looking out for my safety... I just need you to manage your products and that's all. If I need something I'll let you know.

I had to block calls from BBVA because they kept asking if I needed help with the PL I was offered and checked the rates on. No, I don't need help.. it's a simple thing to do like opening your card a few months ago.

As I understand it, the original application is a soft pull on these cards.

When you apply, is there an option to accept or decline the offer, or is there a card on the way as soon as you do?

You get presened with the offer and then you either accept it or you don't. If you accept then the card gets sent like any other. If you're feeling bold you can take more than 1 offer through a direct app which will definitely be a HP but, you can get 2 for 1 HP. Make sure you screenshot the approval pages in case you have to fight with them to get both accounts that are approved.

I can give details of my BB&T cli experience. In 2016, I started my rebuild. I had a Cap One Platinum and a Walmart store card...both three figure limits I believe. I had a checking account with BB&T and received approval for their rewards card and a $2500 sl. I used it moderately after obtaining other credit cards later that year. I never received an auto cli and knew that a cli request would result in a hard pull. I closed my checking account in 2017. After the card turned two years old in 2018, I decided to take the hp and request a $12500 limit (I believe the cap on this card is $25000). It was approved...I really did not expect to be approved for the full amount. My scores were 760-770 range, income $60K, 6-8 inq, no derogs, and a low AoA. I am currently preapproved for their three cards but don't need them or want to take another hp for a cli on my existing card.

Current limit is $3,500. I’m going to request $12,500.
I originally received the card in February 2019. I’m at about 1% utilization. I also have a derogatory on my Experian that I paid off that turns 7 years old in February 2020. AAoA is 1yr3mo. Oldest account is 2yr2mo. I have 13 accounts, but 6 open credit cards, 3 open store cards, and 1 auto loan that my next payment isn’t due for around 18 mo.

Well, I called and asked for $12,500. They said that they also submit it to underwriting for review, and that there is not automatic approve or deny upon submission. That being said, I usually put about $2k/mo on that card, and always pay in full. I currently have a balance of $527 that I intend to pay tomorrow. Sure, I understand that I should’ve applied tomorrow, but I’m being a true guinea pig. I’m just giving you data and making a call. I’ll keep y’all posted.

Interestingly, the person who I was eventually transferred to via the 800 number happened to be 2 blocks away from me. Too bad she wasn’t the one processing the app.
