When Does Discover Auto CLI?

Hey everyone,

I got approved for my first Discover card on 7/9/2019 with SL of $12,000. I applied for CLI today and was declined (third statement cut on the 23rd). My credit scores have gone up since being approved. I’ve put about $4k on the card but have paid all balances in full.

Wondering if it’s because I got a higher SL that I was declined or do I just not have enough time with Discover.

When did you get your first auto CLI?

I received my first increase at 4 months.
And they definitely have given auto increases. You can search the approval forum by typing "discover auto" and results will populate.

It's not a given and profile dependent.

Typical results though show if it's going to happen it usually creeps up within the first 2.5-6 months but, sometimes it could take years to happen. There's no method to the madness with Disco + CLI's.

Mine took nine months plus I almost gave up on getting a cli from them. I had decent credit score atThe time too , it seems like it depends on a lot of different factors.

There is absolutely no guarantee of a CLI--ever!

The reason could be a million and one things or no reason at all. But the most probable reason in your decline letter will be "not enough experience," which makes sense. It's only been 3 months since you've had the card.

You did start with rather large SL, so I would not be holding my breath for auto CLI
Mine started at $1000.00 a little over 2 years ago, and I've had maybe one or two tiny auto CLI, rest were requested by me and it's now at $24,700.00
They do grow, but with larger SL, I really would not expect huge jumps this soon.

7 months on my first Discover, and 8 months for the second.

But my Discover cards were (and still are) some of my lowest limits.

It looks like your Discover limit is almost twice your next highest (and 12x your next highest)? And a very new card? I wouldn’t expect any big increase soon-but Discover is a mystery, so who knows.

I've come to the conclusion that Discover doesn't like me. Likely because they know they'll never be my daily card. I've had my it card for just over 4 months with no luck in CLI, auto or otherwise.

Chase on the other hand, really loves me. Which is fine, because i love them back.

Thanks! I do have other cards ($5k+) but they’re almost 10 years old. The three cards in my signature are new as of this year but Discover is still my highest.

Since getting the card, score increased 20 points to 713. Overall util is 2%, down since approval. Think it was about 30% when I was approved. Most of the stuff that was on my profile are still there with the exception of Transunion. I had my BK removed from TU (was there when originally approved).

I opened my account in April. $9500 starting line. Never got an auto. After 6 months I was approved for an additional $1000. They’re kinda all over the map with approvals and subsequent CLI thereafter.

I've had my card for a year and just now received my very first auto CLI. I've been hitting that Luv Button literally like every day and haven't gotten a CLI in over 6 months. Then I log into my account last week and see that my available credit is now $6,000 instead of $3,000! I use the crap out of this card, so I'm not sure why I couldn't get one earlier. You got an amazing SL; I'd certainly be happy with that SL!

I was on the phone with the CLI line this weekend, and they said they can review a CLI once every 30 days. So you can hit it all you want, but they will process once a month.

At the same time if they deem that you're eligible, I'm assuming you could receive one once a month.

I have yet to get one with them. But I'm still working on a few baddies, so it's understandable why I'm not getting any luv yet.

Don't think the denial when you tried for Discover luv is a firm no. I tried, got the no, then a couple days later saw the increase. It was crazy but I'll take it.
