You may have other occurrences, other than a dropped phone, if the phone is damaged at home or stolen (such as other damage around the phone (fire, water damage, etc.) or other things stolen in addition to your phone), where you are going to notify the insurer anyway. If you dropped your phone or someone stole only your phone, then no, don't notify your insurance company.

But things happen away from home. Dropped your phone in the grocery store, got mugged, etc. You don't need to notify your homeowners insurance first to collect benefits, so it is worthwhile to have the coverage through your CC.

Citizens bank is offering a 1.8% unlimited cash back Mastercard, with 5% unlimited cash back on everything through March 31st. You must apply at a branch for this offer though, so you must reside in the mid-Atlantic or New England region or be willing to travel or will be in the region on travel.

Your cash back is credited to your account the same day of the transaction. For the 3.2% bonus, it is credited in May 2020. Not a bad deal.

Their online version of the card offers a 0% for 15 months. Not sure if it's just a BT or BT and purchases. But I didn't see such an offer for the branch version.

Not a bad card for those who PIF and might not care about BT.

I'm not applying as I don't need another card at this point and my DC is 2%.

Ugh, was considering this card before. The 5% unlimited is very tempting with (about to drop 5k+ on stuff)...but I just started getting set on the NFCU 2% card...
Kinda would prefer a MC over Visa, since not many good MCs out there & plenty of good Visa cards...but would like to start building a good relationship with NFCU in preparation for an ultra low mortgage rate...

Thanks for pointing this offer out, Rsmy1234, and playing with my heart!
Where's the opposite-kudos button for moments like this?

Regional or not even the big names have blackholes for branches.

If you're a credit junky you've heard of the players in the market through researching the approvals section.

Citizens is kind of "basic" and odd when it comes to 1.8% rewards. What's the point of the missing 0.2% or even being bold to gain market share with a 2.5% instead? There's nothing really appealing about their product Sure 5% is a novelty and then it gets tossed aside for lackluster value beyond the next few months and the delayed payout will deter many as well.

I've heard of them just within the last 5 years, but never would have looked at their credit card offerings until I saw Propel about a year ago.

I guess someone in the west could go for a best rate car loan on LendingTree and get an offer from Citizens bank. Then at some point see their credit card when they go to log in to make a payment.
