Hi folks,

I tried looking for an answer, but I couldn't seem to find what I need...

As the title says, do the personal cards by SYNCB or Chase earn 5% or even 3% on purchases made on the Amazon Business page if you have a personal Prime membership?

I added the Chase card to the Amazon Business profile, but I'm not sure I can link the SYNCB card too. But more importantly, I'd like to make sure I can get 5% or at least 3% for now till I decide on the Amex business version.

Thanks!

I would try a small purchase and see. I was thinking of doing the same with the Wifes Sync card but with a current limit of $600 it is limiting.

They simply don't mention anything related to business accounts. You used to be able to extend Amazon Prime to a single Business account, but I can't see that either.

I'm not exactly sure if the personal card works in the business side, but I can say that the Amex Amazon business card works on the personal side.

If you have an Amex card already getting the Amex Amazon business card is practically painless. The app would be a soft pull and it is on your business credit report so it won't effect your personal credit score at all (no inquiry, no new account, no reduction in average age).

I've been very happy with it. I closed my Chase Amazon card after having it for a bit. Only thing you miss out on is sometimes they have deals on Amazon specifically for the Chase Amazon card, but they were never that interesting to me so I didn't mind losing out on them in trade for Amex offers.

Edit - I was able to use my personal Amazon Prime membership for my Amazon Business account, too. I didn't have to pay an extra or increased Prime fee. I did this by logging into my personal Amazon account and then searching for the Amex Amazon Business card and then applying for it through the Amazon site. It all registered without me having to do any extra steps.

If I can get some confirmation from someone that I won't earn 5x, then I'll swap the card to Amex BBP for now so at least it's 2 MR rather than nothing.

I don't want another Prime AF for business, so I'll certainly be doing what you did and applying through the personal Amazon account.
I called Chase and the rep I talked to was certain that their card earns the same rewards on the business site, but she mentioned that I'd have to be Prime on both personal and business. If I'm Prime on personal but not business I'd get 3% on the business side.
I hope she's right, but I wish this was more clearly spelled out on the FAQs or somewhere.
The Amex business version does say you earn 5% on both sites. Anyway, I used the 30 day trial on business till we're able to get the Amex card. I'll just have to check in a few days what type of rewards I got with the Chase card.

Did you already have an Amazon Business account open or did you open it after getting the card? Just trying to figure out if there's a procedure for this because I can't seem to link my personal Prime account to the business account. I've read that you used to be able to extend Prime benefits to business, but I don't see that option in settings.

@imaximous wrote:

Not sure if it's quite implied. Supposedly, you earn 5% on Amazon Business but only if you also have Business Prime. If you have personal Prime only, you earn 5% on Amazon personal site, but 3% on Amazon Business. This is what Chase rep told me. I still don't have any first-hand experience with the Amex card.

AWS is sort of a business site. It uses a separate account from my Amazon consumer retail account. I think Chase would not really care if you have a Business Prime (I mean, AWS is not even a retail site). You have ONE Amazon account tied to your card, which determines 3% vs 5% rewards – which is your consumer retail account. It'll be interesting if they have a hidden 3% category for the Prime card, that is tailored to a very specific subdomain. Only one way to find out for sure: try it and let us know.

TL;DR | I doubt the CSR. I think the logic does not make sense. Either it earns 5% or 1% (everything else category).

When you add the card to amazon it tells you if you will earn 3% or 5% or gives you the choice of 90 day payment terms.
