The fine print for Chase's CSR bonus states, "50,000 Bonus Points
The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months."

I got the card when it was still new and they were still giving out 100k bonus points. Currently, I'm about to begin my 3rd year with it and was wondering if it's possible to use it until the 47th and 48th month, transfer any remaining points to my Chase Freedom Unlimited card, downgrade the CSR to a Chase Freedom card, then wait until the 49th month to pass before opening a new account for another CSR and get another bonus.

Would this work? Has anyone tried this with success? Thanks.

OP, best case scenario is to wait and see what your options are at that point. Since Chase is fairly known to adapt and sustain certain restrictive activities when it comes to SUBs, multiple core cards in a short time period, increasing the timeframe for getting another SUB, etc. there's lots of potential variables that are unknown at this time.

For all we know, they could restrict some PCs (doubtful and speculative at best), but then again no one foresaw 5/24 would expand to all their CCs... which can only be 'bypassed' with specific pre-approved offers.

Crack the door open, even a little, and a churner will cash in the points and ditch them first chance they get. I just don't see them throwing that demographic any bones at all.

My guess is they'll move more heavily toward retention/loyalty perks and bonuses to retain desirable customers and the rest can take it or leave it. It's an increasingly common business maneuver in the corporate world; those who wear Moneyball hats will tell you 10% of the customers generate 90% of the revenue and those are the ones you bend over backwards for, not the cheapskates looking to burn you for another quick $500 SUB.

If you are sub hunting, the CIP is a better card if you are eligible to have a business. That way your CSR can remain intact. The CIP is a good card and the 80,000 points with an additional 95 AF out weighs the CSR's 50,000 point sub. The following year you can PC it to one of the two Chase Ink cards that have useful categories as well.

I'm not saying it would happen, but I think as you're contemplating moves for the 48th month mark, you should also be preparing for AA. Of course, this is JMO.

OP, your siggy lists both a CSR and a plain Sapphire? Along with Freedom and CFU?

I guess your scenario raises the question, can one have two basic Sapphire cards, or is there a restriction similar to not allowing both CSP and CSR?

How many UR points are in your stash, and are you trying to get some larger number for a redemption?

I will get some popcorn if you decide to try this, but I tend to agree with the other posters: Chase UR cards are top tier, and I don't really want to risk mine.
