Card companies love those. You can load up on those every month and they will love you more. Use a card for only the rotating 5% categories, not so much love.

As you know, not everyone agrees with that! And why is using deals, which are often more than 5% better?

I know not everyone agrees. I will try to get a definitive answer on that.

As for deals/offers, the merchant pays for all or most of the discount. There are some exceptions.

It looks to be a pretty small portion of your total CL, so I don't think it would affect your utiliization much if at all. I assume it wouldn't have a big impact on your age of credit either.

An unused card isn't much of a relationship to have. If one of their other cards is more useful to you, maybe apply for that one and use it.

Your decision, whether you keep it or cancel it, is one that will have little to no lasting impact on your credit score. It's kind of like my capital one QS. It's only a $300 limit and closing it might even increase my average age of credit, but I'll probably just leave it and see how long it takes them to close it themselves.

I'd say sock drawer it and make a small purchase on it every few months. With no annual fee cards, I always recommend keeping them around as it will result in an overall lower credit utilization.

Changing that to 90,000 would have little effect.

However, cancelling a card requires a bit of effort (usually a phone call). Sock drawering it doesn't even require a sock drawer.

Lots of valid points

Personally I want to simplify my life, and I don’t need another credit card / app to monitor that I am not really using. I always thought the Uber card was ugly af anyway so I’m happy I’ll never have to see it in my wallet again.

@longtimelurker I don’t believe that any of us are saying we are “obviously right,” we are simply giving our thoughts and what we plan to do as Uber cardholders...which is just what the OP ask for. Everyone’s style of absorbing or rejecting product changes is, of course, different. However, hearing what those methods are can be very helpful. Whether it’s “what do you have to lose,” or “what do you have to gain,” only the cardholder can answer that after the information is gathered, just as you’ve found ;-)
