The four digits on the front of the card or the three digits on the back of the card?

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post but, the past 3 times I tries using my American Express card to order from Pizzahut online it doesn't let me, it just says "invalid card number". Does pizzahut not take American Express? I haven't tried using it in store only online, is it just online where it's not accepted?

In case anyone was thinking of asking the following questions

Did you check to make sure you were typing the card number correctly?

Yes, I triple checked

Is there anything wrong with your Amex account?

No, my account is in good standing

Are you sure this isn't a technical thing?

It's not, the 3 times i've tried are weeks or months apart and on different devices (twice on my phone, once with my laptop) and it's not the specific store either, I tried ordering online in 2 different cities

Edit: I replied down below but yes, I am using the 4 numbers on the front of my amex card, not the 3 on the back

Edit 2: I'm using the Hilton Honors card

Cards issued by partners like NFCU and Macy's normally use the code on the back of the card.

@Brian_Earl_Spilner Not in my experience. My Dillard's, NFCU, and Propel Amex cards all require the 4 on the front as did my PenFed Amex (before I ditched it).

That interesting, because almost all 3rd party amex cards I have to accept require the 3 on the back to be processed. Maybe it depends on the card reader.

OP when I'm gonna guess that it's an issue on the side of Pizza Hut because if you're entering everything correctly from the card and the billing address you're using is the same as the billing address of the card then there's nothing else you can do on your end other than chuck it up to mystery and use another card or call and pay by phone.

Yeah, it seems i'll just use another card as I've been doing since nobody has replied saying they also have this issue

There's a difference between the CID (4 digits in front) and the CVV (3 digits on the back).
