Bank of America BT card to Cash Rewards?

I have the B of A Bankamericard which is generally considered a card used for BT purposes. These days, I'm really all about rewards and cash back, so their Cash Rewards card is really where I'd like to be. Does anyone know if this move is an upgrade with a HP or a simple PC with a SP? Anyone have any recent experience with this?

About a year a ago I product changed a BoA card. It was a SP and i believe it takes around 30 days for them to complete everything after making g the request.

A quick call into a CSR should do the trick. I’m actually looking at doing the same conversion. Americard to Cash Rewards whenever I get around to calling them.

I did this last year and it does seem to take longer than an it should, two weeks to approve the request and two weeks for card delivery.

also, you might want to inquire if it is possible to get a Visa version of the CR and report back the option. I did not think to ask at the time, but I read somewhere here that it is possible.

Just call them and tell them you would like to change your existing card to a Cash Rewards card. There is a chance you may get a CSR who doesn't know how to do it, in which case you'll need to hang up and call again. As others have noted, it does take much longer than it really should, but it will get done. I think when I changed my old MBNA card that they changed to BankAmericard when they bought the account to a Travel Rewards card, it took about 2 or 3 weeks before the card was changed online and then another week or two to actually get my card (although it began to earn rewards as soon as the change happened online).

As others suggested, Call ..tell them you would likea PC, but would not entertain a HP to do so.

I’ve done it in November. Simple call should resolve it. No HP.
They might tell you that you can’t PC like they told me at first until I told rep that he is wrong.
