Amex amerprise plat

The ameriprise plat was discontinued. I heard rumors of people claiming that as of the new year they believed their old ameriprise plat cards have been convereted to regular plat cards. Anyone notice this?

They stopped accepting new applications for the card back in October

I still have both of them, Platinum and Gold Card, but I haven't seen anything as far as the Ameriprise Platinum reverting to the plain Jane version.

If it ends up becoming a novelty, I suppose I won't give it the axe this year 😁

Yeah, it was the first I've heard of this on a forced conversion @red259 mentioned here. I wonder if someone is already carrying a Platinum if it's just taking longer to take effect

It's interesting you mentioned that they're now on the Visa network and their new partnership is with ELAN. When the Platinum was around, they also offered the World and WE MC versions, but were issued by Barclays at the time.

It's interesting you mentioned that they're now on the Visa network and their new partnership is with ELAN. When the Platinum was around, they also offered the World and WE MC versions, but were issued by Barclays at the time.

Isn't ELAN part of Socks Bank? Or am I thinking of another?

Apparently last year they converted the mercedes benz plat cards over to a regular plat so it wouldn't really suprise me if they did it with this card too.

True, but look how long the MB Platinum was still around (even without new apps) before the conversion took place 😄. Notably, nothing has been mentioned about the Ameriprise Gold Card's future state. I'm sure those conversions are on the horizon, but to your knowledge, has anyone recently been forced-converted to the standard version?

I saw someone claiming they were when they looked at the card in their amex app. I don't have my amex app setup so I cant check and it does not appear to have switched over for me in my main account. That being said I haven't hit my annual renewal since the discontinuance of the card.

Ok, that makes sense. So, you're in the same boat as far as your card not being even a year old.

My anniversary is coming up next month (AF-wise), but the card doesn't expire for another 4 years. Of course, by then I'll switch to Schwab, if the 100K MR offer comes again 😁

Now if I called it Uncle Bob Nemesis Bank (which is certainly a little longer) because that's where my uncle was finally shot and killed while trying to carry out his 31st bank robbery, at least that would be a little more interesting. Even if it's not true as it was only his 24th.

I recall mentioning I used the Amex Platinum $50 semiannual Saks credit to buy socks...and I got some weird replies about manufactured spend with US Bank.

Other equal confusing names we might use:

"Supermagnet" (Cash Magnet...and my sister used to have a whiteboard magnet of an Amex Green)

"Fish Bank"

"173"

Just an update. I receieved a letter from Amex that my Amerprise Plat is being converted to the regular Plat on my AF renewal date.
