I received and for the first time this invite by email.

Is this considered a prequalified offer or is it just an invite to a HP ?

I would consider this "general marketing" .. YMMV

If you feel that it is a card you really want, you could post some info about your profile,

ie: Age of accounts Scores etc.

and some forum members could give you some guidance.

I got that for the PCR and the gold card in the same week. Never did I get a pre-approval. Then I got another for the gold card. Took my chances with the PCR since it would be a HP anyway. Instant $25k. Yes, it's just marketing but PenFed has been hot lately.

My scores are all around 740, average age 2 years, been in the garden for a year now, but i'm not chancing it so i'll just wait for now. I was excited as I got this offer and I needed some extra credit line.

If you really want it, take the plunge. It's not a pre-approval, but once you have a bit of history with them they become more lenient from what I've read. Most seem to agree it's a pretty solid card.

PenFed will use EQ9. Your chances look great for a guaranteed hard pull inquiry if applying.

Scorewise, your 740 is decent without knowing the other details.
