Chase is tempting me...

Here’s a little run down of the last 6 months.
Income 40k+
Three cc
Capital one $1,050 (not doing anything for me but it’s been open for about 3yrs)
Chase (opened oct 1)3k Freedom unlimited 1.5%
Discover opened(jan1) 2.5k 2% gas restaurant

Went into Chase bank tonight and I was informed I was preapproved for a credit card. Went to talk to a personal banker, and they are offering a chase freedom 5% category card.

Now as of right now, I sit at 2 inquires on my credit report. I was going to wait before getting a new card but the Chase trifecta has peaked my interest.

Any suggestions why I should just go for it or maybe not?

No reason not to unless you are getting ready for a mortgage.If it is a card you are interested in, I figure why not? It’s a good card to compliment your CFU and a good one for credit history.

If you want the trifecta, would looking at a CSP be more beneficial? Did he specifically say you were preapproved for the Freedom or just “cards” in general?

I really can't think of a reason not to, as long as it's useful to you. The only thing is, you may get another small SL. And as we all know Chase can be stingy with Autolove. Hoever, if you don't mind HP for CLI's. It's moot.

At least getting another card early will allow them all to age fairly close togther, giving a chance to lengthen AAoA.

Congrats on pre-approval. If you need it, why not? I see no harm unless you will be mortgaging soon. It’s your choice! Good luck with whatever you decide.

Agreed with everyone else. If it's a card you can put to good use, and the HP doesn't hurt you, go for it! As someone else mentioned, you might want to look into the CSP before jumping in with the Freedom. Compare the two and decide which works better for your spend.

he only pointed out the freedom. I didn’t ask if that was all. I assumed that was it...he said I had a high chance of approval but didn’t wanna push. I just wonder if those categories are worth it...

I'm not sure the CSP would be an option based on Current TL's, and recent approvals. Min SL is $5K, so if OP isn't approved for that high of CL ATM. It will result in a denial.

Wasn't there a DP somewhere of an in Branch denial even though they were "preselected"?

A Chase 'trifecta' would include one of the Chase UR travel cards. At this stage of the game, you're not going to qualify for either of those because your present credit limits aren't high enough. So if you really want and can use the Freedom card, go for it. But don't apply for the CSP until you have at least one card with a credit limit > 5000.
