Still only a rumor. But to give credit where credit is due, I believe the news first broke right here on myFICO in the Garden Club thread not long before the DOC post.

They recently raised the Centurion Card annual fee to $5,000/year, so I could see the Optio happening.

Color me skeptical.

Chase back when they released the CSR suggested they weren't done yet... but now we're seeing what amounts to a reduction or a refactoring of rewards and there's been nothing about releasing a super-CSR.

Centurion has never been about the rewards frankly, whereas Plat absolutely is. Not quite sure where the middle ground is for anything other than AF's.

Admittedly I saw on Reddit the other day looking for further news about Jamie's post (which still seems only here) that this new Optio card would be the new "White Amex"

Lets be careful on this thread. The other i see has been locked due to some rule breaking. Please lets keep it clean and some what facts or maybe fortune telling or real real facts somone find on the web. Maybe it is or isn't a coincidence that the Zync is going bye bye in march, and now the rumor of a new product?

Although eliminating a $25 AF product and replacing it with one higher than Platinum seems like a large gap.

It's not a large gap when you consider the Zync hasn't been available to new apps anyway.

I think it seems very likely that AMEX would launch the Zync as the "white card" which is basically a black lite.

Whenever I read about the Centurion card I have a hard time finding a benefit I'd pay for over and above the Platinum fee.

It's the ultimate FLEX card. Many people who have the Black card don't care too much for the rewards or benifits. I know someone who has one and they have over 10 million MR points and never use a point. Never bother with the Centurion Lounge because all his flights are business/first class that come with lounge access already.

I for one keep checking back here looking for the thread headline "Optio card applications are live!!!".

I don't buy in to the speculation about points galore on all spend, it just doesn't make sense. Getting a perks card is my expectation, and then being able to consolidate my 6 AMEX cards down to a more reasonable list.

In Ancient Rome, an Optio was a soldier that was second-in-command to a Centurion. The name works because the card will be the second-most premium in the Amex card lineup. It also said that the card's annual fee would be $1,500. Nov 8, 2019 source is suppose to be American Express?
