Balance transfer card, travel card options?!

Hi all! I haven't been on here in so long! My husband is looking for a balance transfer card, preferably with no fee. His balance is with Navy Federal, so that's out. He also travels with American Airlines at least once a week. I suggested discover and citi's American Airlines card. I know they also have a Barclays card now. But I'm not too familiar with it. His profile is flawless, 800ish credit score. Any suggestions on cards?! Thanks in advance. He's transferring a balance of around 20k.

Usaa platinum rewards, Kay jewelers, and nfcu platinum

I would say Discover. BB&T has it but they charge a fee 4% i think. BOA I think has it

What are his limits? AAoA? Its going to be hard trying to get a bt card with a limit to handle 20k out of the gate. Id suggest a personsl loan.

25k on nfcu(1year) , 20k on usaa(2 years) and about 10k on Kay(6 years).

Why not a 2nd Card with USAA? And or request a CLI on the current USAA CC.

Their CCs have BT offers that don't have transfer fees.

They tap out at $50k exposure the last I checked.

He could transfer a portion of the balance there.

App for another Navy Fed CC.

BT that balance back to Navy that was on USAA. Make sure he apps for a Navy CC with a good BT offer.

Then BT the remaining balance off the original Navy CC to the USAA CC.

I do follow. I don't see any current offers for BTs with usaa without any fees. I checked earlier.

So the USAA doesn't have the 1.99% APR, no transfer fee offer?

I currently have this on one of my USAA CCs. I was betting y'all would have it as well.

Another option, join First Tech or a similar outfit and app for one of their CCs. Request a nice limit that can hold at least half that Navy CC balance. Some CUs allow you to request your limit instead of just rolling the dice.

And also app for a 2nd Navy CC.

First tech CCs go up to $100k in limits.https://www.firsttechfed.com/credit-cards/credit-cards

Shuffle the load around until the balances are under 0% or even 1.99%. Which is still lower than any standard credit card APR.

You guys may need to apply for multiple 0% cards if you don't get 20k right out the gate. Keep that in mind.

I've considered First Tech in the past, went with Logix. They are ok.

Keep in mind that even if your husband gets a limit high enough to cover 20k in one transfer is scores will be dinged for having utilization. It happened with my Logix card two years ago.

I don't think they will give you a big enough limit but the Chase Slate has a $0 balance transfer fee for the first 60 days. Then 0% APR for 15 months currently.

Chase Slate card has a $0 Balance Transfer fee as long as the transfer happens within the first 60 days and 15mo with no interest. Good luck!
