Yeah, sadly they're pretty hard to get into if you're not from the area.

Hmmmm... this is quite interesting, just googled them and there are several branches about 20 minutes away from me in Alabama. 3% flat rate card would be nice to come out of garden for.

I still donated $5 but I'm afraid to pull the trigger as it doesn't say it includes individual who just have membership.

Membership does have its privileges!

Any person who is employed by any company on the Field of Membership list (Select Employer Groups) is eligible to join AOD Federal Credit Union. Additionally, immediate family members of those eligible to join are also eligible to join. "Immediate family member" eligibility is limited to spouse, child, sibling, parent, grandparent or grandchild. For the purposes of this definition, immediate family member also includes stepparents, stepchildren, stepsiblings and adoptive relationships and individuals living in your same house. If you are a company owner or manager and would like for your company to become a Select Employer Group, please complete a company letter/application and return it to the credit union.

My due diligence has begun. This is a small credit union. I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing. I usually stay away from smallish cu/banks. I hope they can survive the myFICO effect. These numbers come from the NCUA - June 2019. I added two other credit unions for comparisons sake.

AOD Federal Credit Union has been open since 1950. It's the 17th largest credit union in Alabama with assets totaling $325.07 Million and providing banking services to more than 34,000 members.

USAlliance Federal Credit Union has been open since 1966. It's the 13th largest credit union in New York with assets totaling $1.84 Billion and providing banking services to more than 120,000 members.

Navy Federal Credit Union has been open since 1947. It's the largest credit union in Virginia and the largest in the United States with assets totaling $111.99 Billion and providing banking services to more than 8.96 Million members.

Most of these are fully voluntary orgs that is their members perform most tasks on a voluntary basis and one's membership in the org would be proof of being one of those members who perform the essential tasks of the non-profit on a voluntary basis.

Your concern of another hard pull, followed by a decline is legit. But that would apply for any CC app. The CU could simply reject you for Credit score reasons without even going into membership specifics.

Would it not be a better approach to first apply for CU membership and if membership is successful, apply for the CC a month or 6 later? A CU memberhsip app will typically get you with just a Chex Systems hit

I noticed this on the large moving banner. Cash back rewards are automically paid monthy as a credit. I like cash back as ACH deposit to checking or a check in the mail. Good Luck to everyone that applies. I will wait for the next 3% card.
