Difficult Ones

I thought I would start a thread about cards (credit store,etc) that were the MOST difficult to get..

Even the ones that you may have now, but it wasnt easy.

For me it is GEMB and CITI. Come on dont be shy list them...

The credit cards that are hard for me to get are discover of course, and also citi for me, the complain about my countless inquiries

Citi always states,paid or unpaid collection.. Which I do have 1 medical unpaid..Working on that now..

For me it's Discover and AMEX. I've applied to both and got turned down by both. Chase comes in at # 3 on my list for some reason. And that's where I do alllllll my banking.

I think anyone with what I call "fatal baddies" can in no way get either one of those 2 cards.

When all 3 of my FICO scores exceed 720 on a consistent basis, then I might consider app'ing.

hi dallas! I'm in arlington.

Just my definition of fatal baddies: BK, Collection, Judgment, Tax Lien, Charge Off.

Fatal in the sense that any one of them can cause your scores into a serious nosedive. Not permanent, if taken care of.

For me it's AMEX. I tried to get a Blue Card once but was declined. I'm not sure of my scores then as it was years ago. I haven't tried since.

yea...that Amex card is for the big leagues..I got denied too..Not there yet..

Not so long ago they were all difficult.

Now I can probably get anything that does not pull EX (over 100 points lower than the others at this point in time)

Wouldn't it be nice to have a sticky up top, cross-listing, ccc's and the CRA's they pull on considering someone for a cc? Kind of like what we have for common abbreviations?

Of course, there's always: http://www.whogavemecredit.com/index.php?page=search.php

But I find that so unwieldy.

Oh well, just a thought.

Sylvia over on CreditBoards they have a credit data base thats totally rich with what scores, the city, why it wasnt approved in more instances and etc...It is great...

As some of you know by now, Amex and it also seems Discover, are allowing the non super-prime to get their foot in the door. Same with BoA, HSBC, WAMU and even Chase. You don't have to have scores over 700 to get a card with any of these five CCCs. IMO, these are the hardest approvals as a whole by CCCs (why am I doing this).

Is Fleet still around as a bank? I was with Fleet (east cost: NY/NJ) but it was bought out and converted to a BoA at least three years ago. In fact it was a different bank before Fleet bought that one out, but the name escapes me.. National something I believe.

I recently got Amex, WaMu and Chase. I'm waiting to see what Citi says, but the hardest card for me to get is (don't laugh!) USAA Mastercard. The reason being is that I have a couple of late payments from a year and half ago, but they gave me a $50,000 car loan! They really do care about payment history. As for Discover, I haven't even attempted to apply for that card. Applying for that would be like pulling the trigger myself!!! Lol! TU-636 EQ-635 EX-636
