There's a LOT of hoops to jump through to get the AF waived, and then the cap comes up after only $1000 in spend per month.

If your general spend fits under the cap, it may well be worth it though.

I'd bounce off that $1000 cap in less than a week between DW and I putting 100% spend on it. I suppose I could use it as an insurance/utilities/cell phone/subscription services only card. (PG&E may still bust the cap in the summer!)

Like I said though.. If you have lighter spend, this would be a decent grab.

Hardly a dealbreaker.

I have seen this card around before. If I could get this card I would not need any other cards really because my monthly spend is so low.

Well, compare to a free 2% or 3%. It's certainly more, but not tons more, plus you would need to be careful to hit very close to a $1000 each month, as going over reduces the gain

The return is still a whopping 4.59% with the AF if you spend $1K per month.

Clearly the number changes as you go over or under but most of us are adept enough at managing our cards that we could come pretty close to being right at $1K each month.

Right, but that's a return on a fairly small sum of money (obviously views will vary). AOD or whatever gives 3% so this is 1.59% more on $12K a year of uncategorized spend, which is $190 Yes, "free money" but IMO not too exciting, and exceeded by a decent SUB every other year or so

The main idea for finding a high flat rate cashback MasterCard is so it can be used to offset the Plastiq 2.5% fee.

With Plastiq you can pay virtually anything with a credit card.

You all have great points...

Of course, I won't be getting this card but I figured it was worth the mention. It made me think of the old SallieMae card - low reward 5%.

Where is the churning forum? Maybe I shouldn't know lol I have enough credit cards as it is.

reddit.com/r/churning

it used to be great few years back and cards like PCMCU, Vantage West got introduced there, but the new mods about a couple of years back blocked all new posts about new cards and only allowed posts discussung the latest Chase/Amex SUB. It became pointless for someone like me who prefers long term cash back...I am a refugee from /r/churning lol
