I'm curious how the other myFICO members pay the popular NFCU CC's and other CU's who do not allow auto-pay for their CC payments. NFCU, in particular, doesn't even allow Billpay eBills from any external financial institutions—(FI).

NFCU was my main (FI) for some time until I switched to Charles Schwab—(CS) for Investments and Banking needs. It's just more simplistic to have my Investments and banking at one (FI) and being able to transfer funds between accounts instantly. Also, CS has been excellent with customer service and even reimbursed my $14 Wire Transfer fee charged by NFCU to transfer my Checking funds to CS.

In a past thread I was heavily thinking about getting the NFCU Flagship—(FS) credit card but have since decided against it due to the payment limitation imposed by NFCU. I get the reasoning but da** it makes it difficult to pay the bill when you either (i.) have to log in and initiate a payment manually or (ii.) set up a manual payment for (x) amount every month that has to be over $5.00 and cannot easily pay the statement balance.

NFCU gives out MASSIVE SL/CLI but if you don't bank with them I personally see it as a hassle to use them as a daily driver backup for my AMEX trifecta. I'm a "set it and forget it" type of guy.

How do you guys feel about CU's not allowing auto-payments in 2020?

<STRIKE>BONUS: Suggestion for CC that fits well with an AMEX trifecta for everyday spending when AMEX isn't accepted. I'm looking for the catch-all VISA CC without FTF's and auto-pay features. I shop at Costco a good amount so Mastercard doesn't work .</STRIKE> Added to another post to keep things simple.

Thanks, myFICO family!

You can pay with both internal NFCU accounts or external financial institutions. I pay my 3 NFCU cards from my Chase checking account. You just add your account number and routing number like any other credit card payment. Then make payment when ever you need.

I mostly use the NFCU app to make payments. Takes about 10 seconds.

So if you use the credit card as a daily driver you need to manually go into the NFCU account and make the payment on the due date or before. There is no way to "set it & forget it" like other (FI's). I'm totally aware I'm being picky and in no way saying NFCU isn't worth the CC. Just curious who else doesn't like this and also found ways around it.

I pay NFCU with pull payment from my 1stBank account.

I don't like autopay at all. I owe that to autopay.

It's extremely rare to see a post on MF where the member gets dinged for having autopay initialized. One (30) day late could really HIT home for someone with perfect credit history as it weighs heavier. I mean the perfect storm could be you absolutely have the funds to pay a bill and forget because of a pandemic and then other creditors take this as you're about to default and AA your butt. Probably way to dramatic but that's how I think!

Due to no auto-payment, I have unfortunately sock drawered my two NFCU CC's for now. I researched deep in the forums and it's been a "thing" with NFCU from the dawn of times. I created another post to see what cards others recommend that have auto-payments to compliment my AMEX Trifecta. Hopefully, it gets some traction.

Happy to see I'm not the only one, I wholeheartedly agree "Large SLs isn't the only reason a FI should be considered great. This is a minimum required contact level, because a CC is a living financial product that has the potential to bite you. If one does not want to spend this time, then probably best not to have the card.

In that log in session, you set up any necessary payment for the card. PenFed also does not have a good autopay system, but it's not complicated to catch up to.

Finding a 30-day late on an account takes nearly two months to achieve because it has to be 30 days after that payment was due, which is ~25days after the statement cut.

Speaking of pet peeves. BMO harris even though you pay your bill, it will still display payment amount due, which drives me crazy. I was checking my accounts this evening and went to check on them, for a moment I thought i didn't pay but I realized I did the day after statement cut.

I really wish they would fix that though..............................................................................................
