I dont use much, considering all the CLDs and Account Closures looks like I should order some thing soon to keep these accounts alive.

I used my FH $20 off coupon and after verifying the price would be higher elsewhere I made my purchase. Delivered today.

My rarely used cards are on a six month, at minimum, use rotation. I tend to use them once quarterly though out of paranoia.

I'n not sure putting a $25-50 purcahse on them would exclude you from AA during this downturn. If you have CL's in the $5-10K's and only spend on average $100-200 per year on it, then it's still at risk of at least a CLD.

This has nothing to do with the normal use it or lose it scenario. IMO

More than the amount of Credit Limits. These are the accounts I had for last 14+ years and I would be more interested in keeping the accounts so I do not loose the AAoA of accounts. I know even if they close they will remain on the report for 10 years. I would rather keep them alive instead of being closed.

If a person needs something from Fingerhut, Dillards or Macys that they were going to buy from somewhere anyway, thats fine. For me, I will not buy something I would not have bought otherwise just to prevent card closure, but that is just me.

I have these accounts for last 14+ years. I am more concerned about AAoA than the credit limits. Any way I'll take it as it comes one day at a time. I need some thing or other any way and I'll buy from the now. Not sure how long Macy's and other retailers are going to stay in Business.

Are these your only old accounts, or do you have others in that ballpark or older?

Macy's are opening some stores back up soon. At least in Georgia.

Macy's reporting is probably alright, but the other two are likely just ignored by most Lenders. Obviously any account reporting positive is a plus, but some are possibly viewed as subprime.

I too have a profile that lists store cards as some of my oldest accounts, but they are all closed now and I don't misss them one bit.

I do hope that a person has more than just these types of account in their profile.

DIllards credit card is issued by Wells Fargo. I'm sure it would fall in line with Macy's as not sub-prime. Fingerhut would be the odd one out.

Macy's prices are very resonable. Both Dillards and Fingerhut are very expensive prices. I'll buy keep buying some thing small from them and keep them alive. My credit limits are not very big with them either.

That's a PLUS then....divide your purchase- something small, maybe one small item one day on that particular card and then the following week another small purchase on that same card. Maybe a little here and there on all your cards every few months could suffice during this wacky economy. Good luck in keeping them!

Macy's is not bad since we can purchase online and pick them up at store for free. Or even we can go to store and purchase items. Unfortunately Dillards and Fingerhut, if we do small purchases they will hit us with the shipping charges which is outrageous. Almost $10 range for each shipment. In order to overcome the shipping we have to purchase suggested amount like $99 o4 $150 to avoid the shipping charges. If we make small purchases and add shipping charges it is a loose loose propositon. Probably make once every 6 months a large purchase and keep the car quite. Not sure what else can be done.
