From time to time there are special time-limited offers. Citizen's Bank 1.8% card gave an uncapped 5% on everything from about Sep 2019-Mar 31 2020. Might have a similar offer sometime again.

In the wrong hands these can be extremely expensive to issuers. Chase used to have one 5% on everything for 6 months. And it was churnable. That card is no more!

5% rewards on everything is unsustainable to issuers so either you'll see one on a limited time basis or on a capped one or categorized one. But in the end it will not last long and expect it nerfed in a few months.

But still good value if you can spend $1000 a month on stuff that normally would earn less than 5%. So if you have a 3% everywhere card, PCMCU allows you to earn $20 a month more, so $240 a year, a gain of $199 after AF. Not huge, but something. And not everyone has a 3% everywhere card!

GM BuyPower card gives 5% for the first $5,000 every year, (then 2%). You'd have to apply that money towards a car, though. I almost got it myself but I don't want to be locked into GMC/Chevy when I buy a truck in a few years.

Are we not going to include CC that have 5% rotating categories. I mean they will reach everything. In a couple years haha.

gas - Abound CU covers that

, grocery -

, internet, cable, satellite TV, and mobile phone service - chase ink cash (has been around since before 2012 so plenty of time to apply) /amex simply cash business covers that.

So besides grocery, theres 0AF cards to cover remaining categories with 5% cash back.
