Citi Prequalify is Gone

I haven't checked other lenders yet other than discover (still there), but it appears Citi is no longer prequalifying people. After searching the forum, it was still working earlier today. I also tried incognito with the same result. Any other lenders killing their prequals?

EDIT: the Home Depot prequalify tool is still there

Capital One doesn't let you prequal for their prime cards anymore.

NFCU prequalify (short lived, RIP) also seems to be missing, even through the direct link that was working just a few days ago. I thought it was just them until I saw this!

Since they didn't actually remove the page and it just has a message, it's possible it's just semi temporary due to COVID or just maintenance . Otherwise why not just take the prequalification section down altogether?

I'll bet this is just a temporary thing, maybe even a website issue. It took me 4 tries to even login today. All of the verbiage about entering your info to prequalify and how it works and all that stuff is still there, so it looks like they're still encouraging you to do it but when you go to actually try, that part of the page isn't working. I could be totally off, but just a guess.

I think you're more than likely correct. Just makes me wonder if it's indicative of an all around tightening up of credit standards for them. I feel that prequalify tools help to drive new accounts. If they've removed the feature, it seems like they don't want as many people applying, or at least, people that are riskier. Same could be said for Cap1. They're ok prequalifying people for their sub-prime offerings, but don't want people going after their prime offerings.

I think the reason for Cap One removing prequal is that they had various offerings on the same card, such as No Sub, no 0% intro etc, and those offers were different from the description.

I guess they want you to apply without knowing if you will get the SUB or intro, because when people saw those, they simply did not apply.

for capitalone prequalify is there
just about to apply quicksiler but annual fee is change my mind ?
i have capitalone $500 limit cli after 350 6 months
and have capitalone aut user $3000 limit
and td cash $2k limit
age is 2 years old
what i should go for 3rd cards is my question now ??

adding image that capitalone pre qualify is still there for me

Citi Pre-Qual never worked for most people anyhow.

At least never for Me, was approved for 4 cards cold apping. IMO

Capital One pre-qualify is still there, but only for their 3 subprime cards.

I have two citi card both with decent SL (I did have to take a 2nd HP to get the limit I wanted on the 2nd one) and I was not prequaled for either one when I applied.
