AAdvantage miles about to expire. Legit cash out source?

I have 100,000 miles which is over a grand (allegedly by quote) at the sellmymiles dot com website. 3 easy steps, they boast. However, at step 2, the template to fill out asks for this 3rd party to be added as an additional cardholder. But wait. There's more. As if that isn't sketchy enough, I as the seller of the miles, cannot add them. They instead require you to fill out every detail about your card, including password and security codes. I uttered blank you, and closed the page out. Now my inbox has two follow up emails, calling me back.
my question: is there anything legit out there? Yes, I am aware that American isn't fond of this and it could be an issue, but that isn't my primary concern. My concern is what to do with expiring miles? Thanks all.

When I did this a long time ago, the miles are transferred to your airline account, and, after payment, you give username and password to that account. They then used the miles there to book award tickets for others. But now with additional checks, I don't know how easy that is. It sounds like your site wanted to do a transfer from the credit card to an account, which often requires some relationship such as AU

Two main options are absolutely legit, when the third, actual flying is a no go.

1) Go to the AAdvantage Dining network, sign up one of your credit cards, then search the Dining Network for a local restaurant and go buy a meal ( take out ) there. The Dining Network is used by the majors for this sort of thing and you get a few miles per dollar spent at each restaurant to the card you signed up for that airline portion.

2) Buy outright 1,000 AAdvantage Miles from American Airlines. This will cost maybe $30, I haven't checked prices.

Each of these methods puts a few more miles in your AAdvantage account, resetting the expiration clock.

Oh, if we are talking about boring legitimate means! You can also simply use the AA credit card for any purchase and earn miles that way, resetting the clock. Or use the AAdvantage Shopping Mall for something cheap (using any card)

But none of these cash out, which is what OP seems to want

Maybe you could specify what your objective is here.

What card are they asking for log in, password, and security codes?

The thing that would require the least hassle and the least going out of your way IMO is just to make a tiny purchase with your linked AA credit card. Any activity resets the expiration date. So, buying a $1 item would suffice.

You could also dine at an AA Dining restaurant, etc, yes - anything that adds even one mile to your account will do the trick.

There is no legitimate way to cash out miles. Mileage brokers have existed for years, but they are certainly risky as to operate they do need full access to your accounts.

If you are simply worried about the miles expiring, literally any activity resets the clock as mentioned above: dining rewards, shopping portal, purchase of miles, using a credit card. Another would be transferring Membership Rewards to your AAdvantage account (via hotel partner), although certainly not the best exchange.

You are correct. Forgive my non clarity. I wish to cash out, or sell the miles possibly to another up who has an AA card and would appreciate the transfer of the miles.

They asked for log in and security codes on my AAdvantage card. I do though, just want to cash out my miles, if possible. That is the quest. The dumb things that AA offers for miles accumulation aren't in my purview.

There's an option to just donate your AA miles to a charity. there are three main categories including organizations that assist veterans and their families.

I would just use the card to reset the clock, then it buys you some time to figure it out.

Besides I thought cashing them out in this manner was against the T&C.

There is no cashing miles out for cash that doesn't involve something shady. Airline miles are a roach motel/dead end for that.

Given that AA has been aggressive in clawback action and account closure, up to you how you want to proceed. If you are fine with potentially NEVER again having an AA account or being able to earn again, selling them might be fine, just realize that this is against the terms and conditions you agreed to when you started the account.

Cheapest way to extend miles by 18 months is to buy a magazine subscription with points.

Either pick something you actually want or cheap out, some are as low as 300 points.

Could you buy a business class flight for 200,000 points, cancel and then get refunded all in cash?

Maybe there is a way they'll accept that.

A very easy way to extend your expiring miles is to go to the Miles for Opinions website. Costs nothing, take a survey and recieve miles and even if you are rejested for a particular survey you get a few miles which will extend your miles by 6 months from thr present expiration date with every survey. I have recieved over 20k miles over the last few years for taking some surveys.

OP has a Citi Business AAdvantage card. A purchase of a pack of gum with the card solves the expiration issue.

No. There is NO legitimate way to convert airline miles to cash. Canceling that flight would simply result in a redeposit of miles (and other than right now when fees are being waived, subject to a redeposit fee unless one has Platinum Executive or higher status).

OP's only legitimate options are: let the miles expire, perform one of many options given for resetting the expiration clock, book airfare for themselves and/or others, donate them to charity, or transfer them to another AAdvantage member for a fee ($1,265.00 for OP's 100k miles).

That's not how this works. Not even close. Get an award flight with miles, cancel it, you get the miles back (plus taxes and fees). Not cash.
