AMEX question please give me an answer.

I am told that AMEX does not like BKs. I don't have a bk, but I have a 2 years old satisfied judgment and a 6 years old paid collection. My fico score from EQ is 681 the fakos from EX and TU are respectively 687 and 657. I would like the AMEX blue, would I be approved if I applied for it?

i think to be safe i would try for a delta and ask for a "product change" when your delta arrives. not sure about the baddies and how amex would look at them, i think if any were amex accounts you would have to go the oasis route first.

Amex is VERY stringent with baddies on the report..

But with a score in the 680s you can get the Amex Delta Skymiles card.

After you get the card call and ask if you can convert it to the blue

There have been TONS of success -backdoor- to Blue this way.

FAKOs mean nothing, so it would be good if you could find out all 3 of your FICOs since AMEX will pull them all. As long as your judgements/collections are paid and they weren't with AMEX you should be fine, pending FICOs. I would be cautious on applying for Blue immediately and suggest reading the boards on AMEX Starwood and other cards that are more easily approved and can later be converted to Blue.

Pulled EX only.

No BK, 1 CO/CA nearly 7yrs old, FC 7yrs, no lates 5+yrs.

delta skymiles is an amex card. it's just a less than prime product that is easily changed to a "prime" card like blue cash.

Hi,

I would try for the Delta gold card first. My hubby was turned down for the blue, clear and green! He was approved for the Delta gold card.

When I got my blue, optima plat, green, gold rewards, and corp card. My scores were well over 750 with no recent baddies.

Read the board and listen to these fine people! They really know their stuff!

i would app first and if/when approved look into a bt. i wouldn't max out amex on a bt right out of the gate.

I understand that but my ultimate goal is to get a AMEX blue with some bt at 4.99%. If I apply for Delta amex just to convert to Blue, do I request bt at the time of the app? If I should then would I be able to convert the Delta bt which is at 9.99% to AMEX blue bt. I am not clear on this.
