Anyone with the B&H Payboo card, can you please answer this?

Hi,

I'm looking for a new laptop and there is one that I like. About $1600 in price. I'm curious how payboo credit card refunds you the tax.

If I apply for the card and get it, will i be charged straight up $1600 with zero tax added to my account? OR there are some hidden terms and conditions to it? The tax in this case is around $140 as I see on checkout page.

I'm in NY if that matters.

I'm contemplating buying either from B&H due to the payboo tax saving or Best Buy (but the limitation to best buy credit card is, you get 10% back only on first day of purchase); which for a $1600 laptop is about $160. Not much of a difference but I believe the Payboo card still has better return if it returns all of the ~8% tax compared to 5% cash back on best buy card later on.

They waive the tax at checkout.

That sales tax looks alarmingly low (Definitely not NY ) . It would be about 8% of the total price as I'm seeing $140~ tax for the $1600 purchase.

Do they have any ifs/buts regarding what specific tax that refund i.e. they leave some of it like just country, city or state tax?

I have been trying to resist applying for new cards (in hopes of saving for a Chase SR) but have been considering this or the best buy card lately because of the $150ish savings off of total. Would you say the Payboo card is worth the HP?

The tax law on the books for CO only requires them to collect state and some other taxes. Our tax rate is 7.25% but they only collect 4% at B&H. Whatever they charge you for taxes though is what they will credit off when you use the card.

As for whether it's worth it or not, it depends on two things - how often you will use it and if you're always able to PIF. I got rid of mine because I don't buy big ticket electronic items often and I would rather have financing most of the time (like when I bought a TV from them).

So a 5% card at Amazon (Amazon Card / Synch or Chase) or Amazon/Paypal (Quarter on Discover) you would actualy get an extra 1%

I honestly thought that Payboo CC, had a greater value. hmmmm

I kinda see why "Payboo" is not that popular of a card.

It depends on the state. While I only get 4% for my zip code, NY 10001 gets 8.875%.

Colorado is just screwy with how taxes are calculated. Amazon has a physical presence in CO so they have to charge me 7.25%. B&H has no presence here so they only have to charge me the 4%.

. That's definitely better than the 5% on amazon prime. So that basically makes it a 9% cash return card.

Now I've to make up my mind about either this or the bestbuy card.

Not really happy about the saturdays off thingie on B&H as thats where I usually am free to shop so its kinda turn off to see they're unavailble for the day but meh.
