If you get denied for one card can you apply for another..:

Got declined an Amex Gold a week ago for god knows what reason 🙄

average credit score across all 3 bureaus (730), 10% utilization. AAoC: 1 year 11 months

could I apply for a non Amex charge card or will I be auto declined in their system?

Yes, of course you can.

Just because you are denied by one bank, doesn't mean they all will.

Are you speaking of Amex for second app or a different Fi?

If it's Amex, it will most likely be a SP. Even on second app.

Also, if you were denied a charge card. Chances are you'll be denied a standard Amex CC.

Likely a denial.

The charge cards are the easiest to obtain IME.

But it doesn't cost you anything to try, so try.

You should be able to view denial reasons somewhere in your account.

I wouldn't be applying for any Amex product till whatever issue is referenced in AA letter reaches resolution.

The length of time your accounts have been established.

There is no recent information about installment loans on your report.

There are too many credit inquiries on your report in the last 12 months.

3 inquiries in 12 months (1 being a BG for lease)

2 years average age of cards. I've seen people get approved for a lot less

and I don't have any installment loans??

They are being cautious because they cannot tell who's applying because of financial distress.

You're not the only one who's experienced this recent behavior by Amex, so give it more time, especially if you have new accounts or (relatively) short history

A lot of people get approved with no loans, but when economy gets a bit tougher, presence of loan is telling of how one handles pre-set amounts (with cards, you have a choice, minimum or more, but not with loans)

They've changed UW standards a bit, so the whole "if you can inhale, you're in" changed for many.

Thanks for the info, guess I'm just disappointed as I wanted to get my foot in the door one way or another with Amex and it seems I'd get denied for everything over seemingly nothing
