Capital One Upgrade Finally!

I upgraded my Quicksilver One (opened on 9/3/19) to a Venture One back on December 13th of 2019, and I regretted it. The rewards are terrible at 1.25 miles per dollar for the Venture One. I only did it, so I would eventually get the Quicksilver or the Venture upgrade offer. I kept getting offered an offer for my other Capital One cc to upgrade my Savor One, but I was not intereted becuase I love my Savor One. I will only upgrade it to a Savor if I ever get that offer. Well I finally got an another upgrade offer for Venture One that I upgraded back in December. I noticed that you can only receive one offer at a time if you have two or more Capital One cards. The offer that I was receiving for my Savor disappeared, and the offer for the Venture appeared today for the first time.

Congrats 🥳🥳 I also just got the upgrade, mine from Platinum -> Quicksilver. And I've been wondering about the venture one, so thanks for that. I think with cap one I'll just wait for upgrades instead of applying for new ones.

Congrats! I have August 17th in my calendar as the 6 month mark from my PC to V1 so I hope I can get out of it too.

@soxfaininfl, congratulations on the upgrade. There's no reason to "regret" the first upgrade. You got rid of the QuicksilverOne's annual fee, and that's no small task. PC'ing from a QS1 is one of the few reasons to recommend the VentureOne card. When an offer to upgrade a QS1 appears, the best tack is to take what you can get.

After upgrading, it's generally six months before PC offers might start appearing again. It looks like your recent offer appeared just about exactly six months after the first PC.

Does Cap1 product changes "bucketed" cards. Currently I have two Cap1 cards that seems to be bucketed.

Quick Silver - CL $700 (No AF, SL = $500)
Quick Sliver1 - CL $700 ( AF= $39. SL = $500)

I was able to get 2 CLI on both cards totaling $100 each lol.

I'm trying to see if I can PC to a no AF card.

With Cap1they like to see heavy usage. Looking at your signature, obviously they aren't daily drivers. I don't blame you either as you have some better cards like Amex, Citi, Discover and Navy (I burned Amex, Citi & Discover in a BK7). Currently my daily drivers are my Savor One (dining, entertainment & groceries), BMW Motorcard (gas) and Quicksilver (for everything else). Obviously if you don't max out their cards and PIF each month they will grow. You can request CLI's every 6 months as long as you get one every 6 months. If you get declined, try again in 3 to 4 months. Good luck!

@MerMer495, product change offers on the no-fee Capital One cards don't seem to be tied to much at all. We've seen a lot of starter bucket Platinum cards upgraded to Quicksilvers very early on.

The QuicksilverOne is another story. Those cards have been difficult to upgrade, but it's been done. Data points indicate that consecutive months of usage may be a key. I was able to upgrade two QS1s after 12 or 13 consecutive months of use. The amount of use didn't matter; some months had only one small charge and a payment.

Of course, if it's a limit increase you're looking for, Capital One wants to see lots of spending. I've found that spending an average of about 3k per month over a period of a little over three months has generated offers for 3k increases. If you spend a lot and don't receive offers, your card is likely stuck in a starter bucket.
