They sent an SM and tried to move some line from the CSP to the CFU but the response simply said they were unable to do that.

I was hoping to do the same but from my CFU (2017) & CF (2/2019) to my CSP (9/2019). Did they stop allowing this or is perhaps the current situation? Cards are too new?

I haven't done any reallocations since October, but haven't heard of anyone having issues moving limits. What are the credit lines and how much was being moved? Keep in mind that the CSP does have a minimum $5000 credit line ($10,000 for CSR), so you would not be able to move an amount that would cause the credit line to fall below that.

I don't believe there are any changes with Chase with regards to this. Technically, they are not granting you more credit than they've already been willing to extend. There are data points here about people calling in on new approvals to move limits around. You should have no issues...

It's likey the scenario @K-in-Boston mentioned, try leaving $5K on the CSP. If that doesn't work then perhaps Chase is temporarily halting the process, as it's technically a CLI on one card?

Also not sure this is the intention, but if one's plan is to move CL from donor card and then close it. You had better wait 12 months to do so as it might look like churning to them.

Credit Lines being moved:

Me: $700 CFU & $1,300 CF -> CSP
Other: $2,700 CSP -> CFU

All minimums remaining as such. Perhaps then, they just encountered an uninformed/incapable responder. I'll have to peg some time to call in because most of my free time is at night where they're closed (least the Sapphire line said so when I called around midnight CST).

Also, we're not trying to close any cards, just want to move limits to what works better for us. Although I would be sad if they're halting it at the moment.

I can certainly see a reduction in operating hours due to recent events. The other changes happened well before. In no way am I saying Sapphire customer service is bad, quite the opposite as they are always great once you get connected, but they used to have that "wow factor" comparable to Amex Platinum and that appears to be gone.

Any thoughts?

That is correct. It is very rare for Chase to allow cardholders to move the final $500 (or sometimes $1000) of a credit line when closing a card.

This is basically the crux of the issue.

If you had a large CL on that card, you could probably move it provided you do not go under thet base minimum for each particular card. You are getting denied because that card requires a minimum.

@Anonymous @icednightpaper the lack of consistency with these responses from CCCs is frustrating! I did have good experience with Chase within the last week though. I called and talked to a rep. She moved 4800 from Slate onto a Freedom Preferred with 3500, new CL 8300 on Freedom and closed the Slate. Whatever the date on my Freedom is in my signature, the Slate was a year younger.

Forgot about this thread, but I have an update:

I was unable to do over SM, I had to call fpr my own cards. It went fine. For my HH member: turns out Chase had their SSN recorded incorrectly for their CFU compared to the CSP, so frontline reps did not see them as primary. We had to escalate to another department (or something like that) to get someone who dug deeper for us. The new rep fixed it even though that CFU is 11 years old, and then they were able to reallocate as they wished. This was on the Sapphire line too so a bit of a headache but ultimately the desired result was achieved.
