Newly Released Wine Enthusiasts Card...

So today I received notification about this new Grand Reserve card with a points program for wine tied to it's partners. AF is $149 and it's offered from a bank I personally haven't heard of before...Vertical Finance...issued through Celtic Bank. While I do enjoy a great Napa Beckstoffer Cabernet....I won't be applying but wanted to share the news.

That's a steep AF for offerings. Especially if you consider I can earn points from clubs, discounts direct from wineries, all without a Wine Enthusiasts credit card.

Heck, my Amex card has at least 5 wine offers I can use. Guess you know I'm a wine enthusiast!! 🍷

I know right...and what's to say the wines you enjoy are part of their program! I looked through that image on the home page and didn't see anything that stood out for me. The wines I enjoy aren't readily available at BevMo so....

@cashorcharge thanks for the info! It's always fun to hear about the new cards out there; good or bad. Personally I think my entire wine budget for the year is half that annual fee.

For those of you who don't know who Celtic Bank is they play in the subprime market, cards like Reflex and Surge.

Surprisingly Barefoot has a few good offerings for $6. For wine drinkers on a budget.

I'm a cold hard cider guy this hot socially-distanced summer, but favor wine at other times of the year.

Costco + BevMo suit me pretty well. I once even got BevMo to trigger (in error) the Amex Platinum Sak's credit when it first launched.

Occasionally I've bought wine online...but not remotely enough to merit a card, let alone an AF card.

I'm a wine guy and all, but this card isn't giving me good feelings. There are better ways to get a good discount on a nice merlot.

@blindambition thanks for the tip! I do everything on a budget so I will be going 'Barefoot' next time!! Maybe sooner than later lol!!

@coldfusion thanks, I knew I had heard of Celtic Bank before. Surge. I think that card had/has a bunch of outrageous fees (annual and monthly perhaps)? Maybe worse than Credit One if that's even possible!!

it's a metal card... don't drink much wine... must have metal card....

the rewards usage is for specific wine experiences, not cash back or travel points.

also ironical a wine card is backed by a Utah bank.
