Synchrony CLD and restore!

While updating my weekly excel sheet, I discovered that Synchrony had reduced the credit line on an unused gas card from $2300 to $1024.

Knowing what I know (from entirely too much time on MyFico!), I immediately requested a line increase to $4k.

They restored my credit line to $2300 immediately.

The card has not been used in over a year, so I'll go use it this afternoon.

Thanks to all of you for teaching me about the "ends in 24" CLD from Synchrony!

There have been a lot of people here over the years who have gotten a CLD down to $xx24, and who were able to restore their lines with a phone call. It's become kind of an indicator of a reversible CLD, almost like a warning shot from Synch that the line will see a permanent drop if one doesn't call in, restore the line, and put some spend on the card.

...except I didn't call... just used the credit limit increase button on the website.

An updated CL of $1024 on a Synchrony-issued card signifies that the CLD was auto-generated because it's been sockdrawered for too long. If you call in or put spend on the card the CL can often be restored.

Bumping this up ... because SYNC bumped be down

They did it on two of my accounts - JCP and TJX. Neither has been used in the past year, so not a surprise. They were decent limits, though ... $10k each, JCP reduced to $2k and TJX to $1024 (they seem to like that number?). The only notice I got was an Experian alert that a limit was reduced.

I tried raising the limit on the JCP card and it immediately came back "denied" and a letter in the mail said they couldn't raise it "due to inactivity". Ok, well, that's true.

For the TJX card, I got the Experian notice this AM and immediately went to the TJX/Sync website and asked to raise it to $5k ... and the system immediately came back with "approved" at $10k, right where it was. So, maybe it's a timing thing? I guess it's time to go buy something at HomeGoods
