AMEX Aspire Hilton Honors Perfect Match Offer (Pretty awesome, in line with Delta offer)

As @K-in-Boston mentioned in another thread, there are some nice offers showing up on Amex co-branded cards. This thread is to highlight one I saw today and added:

Pretty nice to see given that all spend on this card until 12/31/2020 is currently considered "base points" for purposes of lifetime status (sure, I might keep the card forever anyways and have the status, but hey...it's always nice to have backups in the event I need lifetime status down the road).

So points are sorted by "base points" and "bonus points" in the Hilton ecosystem. For example, say you stay in a Hilton property for 4 nights that earns you 10,000 base points and 17,000 bonus points. For the "earning" part, they ultimately are treated the same--you gained 27,000 points that you can redeem towards rooms down the road. However, those base points also apply to a separate count--status points.

Status points accumulate to both help you attain a present status (Silver, Gold, Diamond) and also apply to a long-term count of lifetime base points. Base points are typically only earned by staying at Hilton properties. However, with COVID, AMEX and Hilton are counting any non-Hilton spend bonus points (typically for groceries, dining, etc) towards base points. Effectively allows you to maintain or even push to a higher status tier AND accumulate a lot of points towards your lifetime status. This is why you saw a lot of MS for grocery stores when Amex first installed this base point earning program.

Probably not, this is a whopping .5 cents per dollar (and actually should be valued less because if you spend $999 you get nothing). Plus AMEX RAT has already clawed back the ding-dongs who thought they could buy thousands of dollars of gift cards at grocery stores and AMEX wouldn't bother looking at level 3 data on purchases. Spoiler: AMEX isn't stupid.

The one where MS'ers and churners might be happy is the variant of this offer where you get a free night award for 5k spend. But not everyone is getting that offer (I got the 1k base points for 1k spend, no free award night offer on my Aspire, nada on my no-AF card).

Do they have a place on the Hilton site where you can keep track of how many base points you have accumulated over the years? The only thing I can see is where it says how many I accumulated this year.

@SouthJamaica At this time, I don't believe so. I think they had been planning on launching that feature (per TPG) but might have been delayed due to covid and everything else going on.
