No, Amex is not restricting Welcome Offers to one per member. It is still per-product.

The notice that you are ineligible stated the criteria Amex considers. Those factors can change constantly with any person. How has your spending been on your card? If Amex feels you will spend on the card only enough to earn the Welcome Offer and then stop spending, there's not much incentive for them to offer you a Welcome Offer for an additional card. I would try again at a later date.

AMEX no sign up bonus?

Good morning everyone,

Is AMEX restricting their cards to a single sign up bonus throughout all of their products? I had applied for a recieved the AMEX BCE in early June, and was later declined for the Gold in early August for not being a member long enough. Fair enough. However, I did not recieve any notice telling me I would be ineligible for the sing up bonus. After giving my credit some time to build (inquiries falling off), I thought I would apply again since the card fits my spend, only to be met with the notification that I would be be given any sign up bonus.

Why would this have changed in a month? I had not applied for any other cards since that date. Now, I am going from being able to recieve a bonus to being ineligible? Any ideas? The below is the only thing I could find, but I feel as if one card should not be considered too high of a velocity to burn my sign up bonuses.

Welcome offer not available to applicants who have or have had this Card or the Premier Rewards Gold Card. We may also consider the number of American Express Cards you have opened and closed as well as other factors in making a decision on your welcome offer eligibility.

Hey KiB,

The welcome bonus was for $1,000 spend $150 back and 20% back at Amazon up to $200 back. I have spent around $500 at Amazon and around $2000 on groceries and other spend using the card. It gets used about 50% of the time I am shopping anywhere that accepts AMEX. I would not personally categorize my spending as WB chasing.

Thanks for the response. I probably will wait another statement cycle and see what they have to say. Dissapointing as I have held off of any other cards to target this one card.
