From what I understand, issuers are basically engaging profiling. They conduct risk assessments and depending on geographical location, they may cut or close lines to further mitigate risk. States and localities prone to economic downturn are targeted. It's the same as issuers monitoring the purchases for questionable activity (utilities, liquor, food) as signs of possible financial hardship.

Chase Southwest Card CLD $400 last week!!

Does not matter, it's a signature card, so the highest balance is still going to be reported as my CL and I don't use the account anymore because it's in my debt snowball... but I'm sure this means they are watching it now and will just keep lowering it as I pay it. blah

How long have you had the card and were there any major changes to your report? I'm curious only because I just got the card maybe 45 days ago and have never used it. I'm contemplating a BT and don't want to risk a CLD or rate adjustment.

we have had the card for maybe 8 years, product changed it a couple times to get to the Southwest Card.

the funny thing is it had not been used for years because we used it for BT just about maxed it and had been steadily paying it down over 2 years or so and when it got down to probably 30% util they actually increased the CL (which is within a year of now) then we paid it off then started using the card again and just recently (within last 6 months) got it back up towards the limit and the CLD came.

maybe because it was charges vs BT this time to get it up to limit, not sure... I mean big balances with anyone seems to be a trigger these days, so hard to tell... I'm just glad so far it's just been CLD, we have lost a lot of cards in the last year to CLD or closure so I just kind of chalk it up and add it to the list!

It is unfortunate when anyone is affected by adverse changes to their accounts. If your limit was substantial, I guess a positive would be the decrease was only $400. If not so high, then I empathize. Do you mind if I ask what part of the country you're in?
