What's your Discover CL?

I just got a Discover Open Road card a couple weeks ago and I have heard some conflicting info regarding Discover's potential to grow. So if you have a Discover card, what's your current CL and how long have you had the card? If you remember your starting CL, that would be helpful too

My Discover CL is 25k opened in Dec. 08. Initially it was applied for through an invitation. Their immediate response was for a CL of $17,500. Then I received a letter from them a week later indicating that if I faxed them my pay stubs they would increase it to 25k. So I did.

My limit is $5490 and I got the Discover More in December of 2008. I was surprised with the limit since my 6 month old mortgage just started reporting and knowing how tight their lending is. I'm quite surprised by the previous poster's limit after being told upon acceptance that the highest limit they were giving was 16K regardless of credit and income (due to changes in the marketplace). I have not received any CLI and I don't really carry a balance; just paid the $375 balance to $0.

They were obviously still giving those credit lines in Dec. 08. And I know for a fact they will not now.

I didn't mean anything negative by it...I now feel lied to. I shouldn't considering I work for a major bank!

I have had a discover card since May 2000. I believe my initial limit was $5500. It was raised to $7600 after a couple of years and to $9600 fin 2006. This has been my lowest limit credit card for some time. I recently received a CLI to $12k.

My Discover CL is 15K. I don't remember what the opening CL was, but it has steadily grown.

Discover Escape - approved in May 2009 - CL $2,000

PC'd to Discover More because CL was so low (Escape has $69 AF but gives unlimited double rewards)

Discover More Opened 7/09 with $2500 CL. I now have one Master one Visa and Discover. I will apply for AMEX July 2010 to complete my portfolio.

I don't remember what the original limit was. It's been open since 2003. Every year I have gotten automatic increases. At this time the limit is $13,300.

Got Discover More Nov 2008 with 8K initial CL. My highest to that point was only 3K with BJ/Juniper.

No requested CLI's since.

With all the people reporting low initial CL's and declines, the planets must have been aligned that day.

I'm one of the oldtimers; Discover began issuing cards in late '85 & my card dates back to '86. As I recall, the original CL was $1500. After 23 years of always paying in full (I don't believe in carrying balances) & on time, my limit is up to $14,500. (I've never requested a CLI.)

I've never had one but DH limit is 1k an has been since 2000. He has the student Discover more card and it never converted or graduated. Oh well.

Just to clear the air, once upon a time Discover use to give an initial 50K CL to some appers. This thread was from November 2007, and I will NEVER forget that day.

August 2008 - CL = $8.1K, APR = 11.99%

Today - CL = $8.1K, APR = 9.99%

BofA = 9.99%

Citi DP = 6.99%

Direct Merchants Bank (HSBC) = 6.99% (non-intro promo)
