A few data points- Been a member of nfcu for about 10 years. Good history with them. Currently have Platinum card SL 25k, never requested a cli until today, and just got the 24 hour message. EQ score at 803, up about 150pts in the last 30 days.

Here are my questions: What is the total exposure that navy will allow for credit cards? I understand it's 50k on one card, but is that 50k across the board, or can I have multiple cards totaling more than that?

Which card typically has higher starting limits, the Flagship or the Cashrewards?

Is there one card that you would recommend above the other? I know it's based on your personal spend, I just want to know your opinion.

Should I wait on the CLI answer before applying for a 2nd card?

I'm not sure of your card lineup, but for me the More Rewards fit my spend best and it had the best SUB. After SUB spend, it became my restaurant card for 3%. I have other 3% cards, but I use this one to keep frequent spend running through.
The Flagship usually has a $500 to spend $4000 offer that normally appears in March, so I'd wait to apply for it.

The More Rewards currently has a $250 to spend $3000 SUB and the cashRewards has $150 to spend $2000 SUB. I'm not sure how you use your cards, but since we cycle all our spend through cards, the SUB is never problem because we just divert spend through that card for a couple of months.

As for rewards structure, the Flagship and cashRewards are pretty average and the Flagship has a $49 annual fee. DW recently got the cashRewards for the SUB and 0% into APR, but it won't see too much use long term being a 1.5% card.

I'm wondering if Navy Federal has different tiers of total revolving credit or something, because I have a 25k cash rewards, 20k flagship, and 5k checking line of credit. I tried to get a CLI on one of them and was issued a denial letter that said I had reached their maximum revolving credit of 50k. I called and asked a rep and they confirmed it. I called another time and again it was confirmed.

I know there are people that have substantially higher credit limits, but I'm apparently as high as I can get with them at 50k across my accounts. I hover between an 800 and 830 score across my cards for FICO and get their best interest rates for auto and home loans.
