I burned AMEX for a "not so small" amount, and paid my debt that I owed to them off in full when I got back on my feet. They approved me for a new card while their own original CO was still on my credit reports.

I just read a nice fun topic about this and tried wife card to be authorized user boom i m approved (burned amex for a sall amount long story)
but sadly just read being autohorized user of amex is good for reporting and points
we the people burn amex in the past have no chance of being approved again
wav after 7 or 10 years (bancrupty ) should be legal and law abide for amex delete history but seems they not (this is illegeal actually)
if true story some have 40 years (**bleep**). of being blacklisted in amex databases,
https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/Amex-Authorized-user-Burned-Amex-in-the-past/td-p/5018080/highlight/true

Hey @mustangy1,

If you burned AMEX for a "small" amount why not fully pay them back and apply? (obviously "small" is subjective).

Bankruptcy forces AMEX for forgive the debt that an individual may have with them. It does not force them to forget that they were burned by that individual. It also does not force them to lend, again, to the individual that burned them.

A bankruptcy, while it may solve several immediate financial issues, is not a magic eraser.
