Hilton Honors points Expiring

So when i applied and got the Hilton Honors Surpass card about 3 months ago with one of the benefits stating that points do not expire. Today, I decided to go on the Hilton Honors website and right before my eyes it said, Hilton Honors point expire if not used 15 months. I proceeded to call Hilton and ask about this misleading information. The rep. stated that if i did not book and stay at a hotel (whether i pay for it with points or cash) the points i have will expire. I then proceeded to ask how will i know when i am close to 15 months. She stated that an email will be sent and i should always read my emails.

Does anyone else know about Hilton Honors points expiring?

What should i do?

There are a ton of ways to keep the points online, just search it up

Lately, Hilton has been extending status and point expirations so it's a non-issue through at least the end of next year

"Members who do not have eligible activity as defined in a. - d. below in any 15 consecutive month period may be removed from the Program and are subject to forfeiture of all accumulated Points. At the discretion of Hilton Honors, such Members may be permitted to remain in the Program and removed after five years of inactivity. To keep accumulated Hilton Honors Points, the Member must take one of the following actions within a 15 consecutive month period:

stay at a hotel within the Hilton Portfolio pursuant to the terms herein;
earn Hilton Honors Points through any third party source of Hilton Honors Point accumulation, including a Hilton co-branded credit card, pursuant to its terms;
purchase Hilton Honors Points; or,
donate Points through The Hilton Honors Giving Back Program ."

Card spend will keep your points active.

Status alone will not, however. I have Hilton Gold from Amex Platinum and the very small number of Hilton points I had accumulated still expired.

Thay've paused the expiration clock for now (it was too late for me) but the clock will resume a month from now in 2021.

March 25th email:

Points Extension. We will pause the expiration of all Points scheduled to expire between now and December 31, 2020.

Thanks... I use that card as my daily card for now. But dont say point do not expire, that quite misleading. Explain how to keep your points not say they dont expire. But i am glad you explained it.

Did you receive a notice prior to the points expiring?

Did you receive a notice prior to the points expiring?

I got two emails. One two months before they expired, and one five days before they expired.

As I said, spending on your Hilton Amex will keep your points active.

Can you provide a screen cap of what you are reading?

When I look on the Hilton site, the language is "Points expire after 15 months of inactivity" and then links go to the more detailed explanation of what counts for activity such as stays, buying through the Dining portal, using an Amex Hilton CC for points, and even buying points. But the starting point is not "stays are required".

You are still spliting hair even after all of that? If I was Hilton I would keep on saying that the points dont expire.... I dont think Hilton could have made it any easier for the points to not expire. Stay...bam, use your Surpass...bam, buy points....bam....

So after speaking with Hilton, my points are not going to show up on the AMEX site because they are now going to my life time reward points. But, if i wanted to use or just check my balance, give Hilton a call. I do not completely understand why i cannot just see them on the AMEX site but whatever, they are there for use or balance check.
