Hey everyone,

I just called in to NFCU to PC my Cash Rewards@9.65 to Platinum.

The system re-rolls your APR based on internal algorithms (according to rep) and you can then accept or decline offer. No HP.

It came back 5.99% 👍.

Edit: I first tried using chat, and they came back saying it was possible, but to use phone or secured messaging, FYI.

I have their Platinum card @ the rate of 5.99% and it is great to have a low interest card but since I usually do not carry a balance outside of a 0% promotion it is not very useful. Especially since it carries no rewards. So, this card is for a specific need and will never be anybody's everyday card.

I'm not knocking NFCU at all for this(nothing but love for them), just pointing it out.

Idk...

For me, it boiled down to me having the AOD Signature card that earns 3% on all purchases, and not really needing the More Rewards card. I have some home improvement projects in the spring that will be a decent chunk of money, but will also be something I can pay off in 4 or 5 months. The 0% intro APR on all my cards have ended, so to avoid any interest, I'd have to pay for it with cash or get a new card (which I'm trying to avoid for now). I decided I'd rather put it on a low APR card and pay interest for a 4 or 5 months. The ARP on this card is as good or better than most personal loans, so I don't paying 5.99% for a few months. Putting it on one my rewards cards doesn't make sense because the APR on all of them except AOD negate any rewards earnings, but my AOD's card limit is currently too small to put the charge on.

I basically got the 5.99% Platinum to use as a de facto short term personal loan to keep from pulling the money out of my savings.

That's what I basically want to use it for. 5.99% is almost HELOC/HELOAN territory. Even better if you are offered 0% transfers after each payoff.
