It's possible they are doing it in preparation for Altitude Connect release.

With enough applicants, they might keep it closed for applications untill they decide to get rid of it for good.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking, grandfather everyone else in and keep it closed like the USAA card (and many others).

I thought they would do something like this when the proposed rewards and SUB were announced, but I thought they would wait a bit longer.

The only reason why I thought that is rumored only-in-branch applications during launch.

So, while pre-existing relationship may not be necessary like it is in case of AR, you still have to live in their footprint, and they might try to "sell" other services they provide, namely checking/savings (followed by "wanna talk about investments" call a month or so later.

@Remedios I honestly just thought, **bleep**, I was just approved for the USB Altitude GO. Would they use the same HP and approve me for this, too lol. I really rarely use Apple Pay and already have the AMEX Trifecta: CS Platinum, Gold, BBP, Amazon Business Prime, and I don't really need it!

USB doesn't repurpose their HPs, unfortunately. Do you have any other USB CCs? The last time I checked with a couple agents, 3 of my USB CCs were eligible to PC to the Altitude Reserve. And, I had just gotten the Altitude GO 🤷‍♂️

I'm still torn on whether I should switch one of them before the rumor becomes concrete, if at all. Definitely can't apply cuz lots of ummm lolzies 💳💳💳💳💳

No, just the one USB Altitude GO CC. I'll probably pass on the USB Altitude Reserve and show some self-restraint. I would rather a USB Altitude GO CLI anyway! But I gotta wait for 6/months and gamble to see if it's TU or EX for me.

I don't think they going to discontinue it. They probably going to do a refresh. They already have a preview picture of how the card going to be. It's in the rewards Portal.

Changing card design doest require halting applications.

They've changed Cash+ twice since I've had it.

Even for the loss leader, AR leans too much towards loss part.

I really do not think it can survive in its current itineration.

Most likely nerfing it. I'd suspect they'll make it 1 RTR vs 1.5. I remember reading somewhere on DOC site back in March that a US Bank employee said that US Bank wants to make the RTR for all cards 1. That's when they nerfed the flex card. Let's just hope for the best. Oh well.

I remember that fiasco. They did the Flex nerf without any warning to their cardholders. Don't think they will do that here and give people at least the opportunity to use them before any nerf. But maybe I'm being too optimistic 😐

Initially, I was definitely going to try for it, but then USB tightened UW rules, which is cool and whatnot, so I'm wondering if it might be a good fit given I already have Altitude GO at the moment. Or, wait for Altitude Connect 🤔

Socks AR - rate it 9 out of 5 🐄

As for why to get it: mobile purchases making it an easy 4.5% earnings through RTR. Everything else about the card is gravy to me honestly. If I could use this for business purchases I'd run the card to the ground 😂

For the announcement I think it'll go either way on whether they'll open apps again ala USAA 2.5% card or just nerf the dang thing before re-releasing it to the public. Maybe they'll ask for first born and some goats before the application even starts

AFAIK there is no option to product change into the AR, you can downgrade the AR to the Go card I think

You know, it was interesting in my last convo with a couple of agents that I could PC FlexPerks into it and Cash+ as well. I couldn't believe it at first, but I would have to check on this again so don't hold me to it yet lol. This was about 3-4 weeks ago when I was exploring different product options. It's unfortunate that they won't do CL reallocations though.

Interesting if true. I'm assuming with the Go and soon to be Connect releasing they'll want to keep all the cards within the same ecosystem like AMEX does with the charge cards (Green, Gold, Plat and Centurion)

If they allowed reallocations I might have bitten the bullet on the Cash+ just to shift the CL to the AR

I don't want to humble brag (of course I do), but for me, it's been a cash 🐄

I was able to pay just about everything via mobile wallet, including tution for two kids who don't deserve me (village of the damned here), and property taxes twice.

I don't even think about it as a travel card since AF is completely absorbed by travel credit and wifi passes.

I'm certain you don't need a travel card, but it really works as cashback card given enough spend can be ran though your iPay thingy.

I don't go out much now, so I don't use it as much.

As far as doing PC...that SUB 😢

You already have everything AR has to offer on other cards (excluding RTR) so

I'd wait for Altitude Connect, grab the SUB, skip larger AF.

I've been in credit purgatory for 11 months waiting for Connect.

I cant wait for that denial thread 😐
