Chase freedom flex

Hi everyone,

I was thinking about applying for the chase freedom flex. I'm under the 4/24 rule. I currently have a 677 credit score. I have one Amex card 1000$ limit and an Apple Card 1500$ limit. What do you guys think? Any tips or what credit report they pull? My strongest score is from Experian.

In many cases Chase will pull two bureaus for new applications. My experience has been 2 for new apps and one for CLI requests. If your highest score is in the 670s, I would think the likelihood of an approval is marginal.

I'd say its probably worth a shot at a 677 credit score, particularly if they think you're the type of consumer that can grow into Chase like I did.

Don't expect the APR to be great on the card if you do get it.

It's been a long time since I've read a sub-700s Chase approval here, and denials in the lower 700s are very common. Personally I would think it would be a waste of a HP or two if OP's highest score (and odds are high they will actually pull 1 or 2 scores that are lower) is 677.

OP, do you know all 3 of your FICO 8 scores? Your only other post mentioned an Experian VantageScore 3.0, which could be as much as 100 points or more in either direction from a FICO 8 score.

I'm in Texas and Chase just pulls EX for me (3x now). Chase pulled EX only for me when I applied for the CSP in California.

Looking back, CSP (now CSR), Slate (closed), and CFU were EX/TU double pulls for me in MA. CLI requests were always EX.

Thank you guys so much!!! I think I will wait it off...I was at a 717 this morning. I paid my self loan lender off and boom, my score drops 40 points! Never was late and paid on time for the 12 month period.

Im getting pretty close to finishing my self lender loan also. Any tips on this I really dont want to drop 40 points.

Ive seen plenty of approvals within your score range.

Your approval will depend on what's keeping them suppressed, and if negatives are present, how recent they are.

If it's older negatives, you should be okay unless it's a BK.

If negatives are new (ish), or your utilization is high, I'd wait.

It seems like you have a slim profile. I would hit the garden in your shoes. If you simply wait 8-12 months and keep utilization in check, you should see solid 700's across the board.

Because there's no crazy promotional SUB on the flex at the moment the move is probably to just take it easy and wait for your score to go up a bit and then apply. There's no urgency just hang out in the garden a bit.

Just curious, what were your scores at the time of the pull? I recently applied and received the CFF, was only pulled on EX, and am also in Texas. I'm wondering if it's random that Chase might do a double pull or if they do it on marginal approvals. Since moving to Texas, Chase pulled only EX on three different apps for me (CIU, CIC, CFF).

It's been awhile so I don't remember exactly, but I would say they were in the 760-770 range across all 3 CRB...
