Chase Freedom Flex

Hey, everyone.

Recently, I have started using the new Freedom Flex for drug stores (3%). I also have my att bill on for this quarter. Other quarterly categories usually are not relevant to my spending pattern. I also do not travel. Obviously, we are not dining out now (like everyone else). Take out and delivery on food are very minimal at this time.

I also carry Citi double cash for 2% everywhere and AMEX BCP for 6% groceries and 3% gas (which is once monthly since I do not drive much). We go to Target occasionally, so I carry the Red Card for the 5% there.

We spend about $1000 yearly on prescriptions at Walgreens, and not much on other items in store.

Before "Freedom" became "Freedom Flex" (I converted), we used the Citi DC at Walgreens for 2%.

I am wondering whether Flex's 3% on drug stores (about $30 annually) is worth carrying (in physical wallet) versus the 2% that CITI DC offers (about $20)?

Is it worth carrying an extra card just for that, or should I just put it on CITI DC for the 2%?

How thick is your wallet, is their no room for the 4th card? I seriously ask that becasue I have recently switched to a slim wallet that limits me to the number of cards I carry. I had to do the same thought process to make decisions on what I physically carry now.

$1,000 a year at the drug store is only going to net you an addditional $10 per year in cash back over the Citi DC.

If it is a physical space capacity issue, can you add the Freedom Flex to Apple Pay (or whatever didigtal wallet on your phone) and use it at Walgreens? That way you still get some spend activity on the card, but you don't have to physically carry it with you and you still get the additional 1% cashback.

If you have room in your wallet, I would carry it and put the drug store and any dining spending on it to get the additional cash back. If you're limited on your wallet space and don't use Apple Pay or a digital wallet, I would just take it out and not sweat the $10 a year.

For prescripts at greens you just put the card on file (fast pay) dont even have to carry it. My policy is whatever produces the most cash back even a few bucks gets the green light.

We don't have a Walgreens near us, I didn't realize that was even an option! That is a great solution!

I would use a mobile wallet. At least in this area, Walgreens supports NFC.

What happened to Freedom and Flex maintaining parity? I do not have 3% back at drug stores on my regular Freedom sadly. I rarely go to one anyways since if I need meds I will get them at my grocery store but I did recently go and spend $70 that I would have enjoyed 3% back on lol.

There is no "parity"

5% categories are same, but 3% on dinning and drugstores are exclusive to Freedom Flex and Freedom Unlimited.

Plain ole Freedom didn't end up with additional goodies.

I didn't PC mine because I get plethora of offers from Chase on that card, so I'd hate to jinx it.

I could've used my Chase Freedom Unlimited as I just realized it also gained those benefits. Partly, why I felt no urge to PC. Also, because I plan on getting Sapphire (something) some day and liked having the option to PC away from Sapphire to Flex.

Not sure why it didn't register that drug stores was part of the 3%, thought it was just dining.

Anywho, so happy to have zeroed out all of my cards at the start of the new year. I'd like to keep them like this for a bit. It's a nice feeling, albeit, a temporary one.
