Can/Does Amazon Synchrony card convert to Visa?

I'm interested in getting an Amazon Visa but wondering if I can convert the card that I have as opposed to applying for and getting a new card. I don't want/need two Amazon cards. Any suggestions/advice? Thanks!!

No converstion between the two cards, the amazon "store" card is issued by Synchrony bank. The Amazon Visa card is issued by Chase bank, they won't convert without re-applying.

Just to add, re-applying doesn't guarantee approval for the Visa card either. ~~I believe it only comes in a Visa Signature card, which means you would have to have to be approved for $5,000+ CL to hae the Signature card.~~

Just to clarify, there is no conversion path between the 2 cards. The only solution is to apply and be approved for the Visa and then later close the store card if the go-forward path is to only hold 1 card.

Just a correction here @fatcomic. The Chase Amazon Prime (or standard version) does not need to be approved for $5K for a Visa Signature. Chase issues those particular CCs as Visa Signature with SLs starting out at $500.

That used to be the case but not now. The issue is that banks get a higher swipe fee from higher tier cards (so Visa Sig vs Visa Plat say). By keeping the credit limit low, and nerfing the benefits, the issuers get the higher fee at no greater risk, so what's not to like from their view!
