DP: approved for the Choice Rewards World MC @ 35k with annual income 156k, 714 FICO. Just over 2 years out of Ch. 13, something like 8 card approvals the past 12 months, 20+ year customer with FirstTech including two used car loans, primary checking account, past secured card I dumped once I got unsecured cards. Card has 12 months no interest, 90 day balance transfer promo to go along with a $200 SUB. 13% interest after that expires (not amazing but beats all my other CCs by a bunch because, still coming out of CH. 13 with OK but not 800+ scores + two years of app-a-palooza), 14% interest if taken as cash advance (not part of the promo). No balance transfer or cash advance fees.

Yes, I know, the awards program isn't amaaaayyyzing (more like solidly below mediocre Capital One cards). The card was obtained for $200 SUB, limit padding while I dump some other chaff (because 35k), and this CU is likely a forever credit union for my main household account (checking is actually 1% interest bearing at up to 15k, and historically beats most high-yield savings accounts), so holding a CU credit card that has low interest, zero balance transfer fees and zero cash advance fees... well, this isn't exactly a credit card, more like a flexible line of credit given $0 cash advance or balance transfer that happens to have some credit card features. Since I will have a step up in college expenses in the foreseeable future from community college to state university the larger CL and ability to balance transfer into the card (and fairly frequent 12 month no interest promos) can come in handy for managing expenses.

From what I remember, First Tech Credit Union is all about that annual income. They kind of cater to high income members, which probably explains the really high credit limits on those cards. One of the very few Mastercards available in the US that can be had in true Chip + PIN.

I think they are well aware that even non-management tech salaries (software engineers, specifically) can easily double when taking into account the annual vesting of RSUs. There are some scary high numbers on the west coast for TC (total compensation) that I would not believe if I did not know someone personally who was compensated in this way. My friend works for Google as an L5 senior SWE and his taxable income for the year as a single man was $315k.
