Does anyone know if you have better approval odds for a Chase credit card if you speak with a banker at a branch location?

Hello and welcome to the forum

Unless you have in-branch pre-approval, talking to banker is same as talking to ATM, it doesn't work.

If you have in-branch pre-approval, they just push the button for you but they cannot influence outcome, nor can they do anything for pre-approval to show up if you don't have one.

yeah..the main reason to go in branch is to check to see if you have preapprovals that might not be showing in your online acct.

Not necessarily. The personal banker isn't really going to influence an approval or any pre-qualified offers. The key thing is your customer profile needs to be eligible or be selected for a pre-approved offer.

That said, if a pre-approved offer is available, you can likely be approved - but YEMV.

If you're under 5/24, apply.

If you're over, you'd need to wait to either drop below, or for pre-approval to appear, which may be tomorrow or never

I'm under the 5/24 rule but my credit scores are right on the line. That's why I'm hesitant to pull the trigger.
