Max Cash Preferred: Offer or Marketing?

Nothing hurts more than when you get a "mailer" for a card that you want, that you are 99.99% sure its just marketing and not an offer, but I'll ask anyways.

Been wanting the Elan Max Cash preferred card, in this case the Valley National (or today it's just "Valley) variant.

Got a mailer today from Valley, but no where does it mention pre-qualified or pre-approved. Just "invited to apply" and there is a unique confirmation code with it as well.

Being 11/12 and 5/6 on new accounts, even if it said pre-approved, would be a tough one to try for.

But I am sure this is just marketing, right?

Nah, I am on a roll with HPs and success rate for new accounts, so no dice for this

I got one of those and also consider it marketing. There's info in the mega-thread that appears Elan looks more closely at the last six months of activity. With 5/6, I think approval would be questionable. But it's worth waiting for!

Yeah, I want this one

Seeing that the credit Gods wont ever shine on me to get the USB Cash+ card, I decided I want this one.

Both tough to get however since technically they are one in the same - but getting this today hopefully is a good sign of things to come.

Maybe I am on their radar

Hang in there - I got the "invited to apply" mailer in January, but I got a prequalified offer with a specified APR (16.99%) last week. I applied, and was approved for $10K and I got the 16.99% APR stated on the mailer.

They also offered 15 mos 0% on the prequalified mailer vs 12 mos on the "invited to apply" mailer

I might have read your post when you got this, but don't recall the DPs.

What were your x/6 and x/12 on New accounts when you apped?

I was approved for Max Cash Jan. 23 2021, $14,900 CL. I was 0/6, 3/12, and 5/24. But they pulled TU for me which only had 1 inquiry, from US Bank March 2020, approval for Cash+. And I applied through 1st National Bank of Texas because it is a Mastercard, but I've never had an account with them. DP's in Aim High's thread on Max Cash indicates that while some CUs are permitted to influence the app and approval/denial decisions, for most banks the entire process is handled through Elan.
