Amex intro minimum spend 3mo vs 6mo.

So ,

I got the Amex Platinum and Gold on the same day ! For each intro points offer it originally said I had 6 months to meet the minimum spend on each card. 4K on Gold and 5k on Platinum. When I was on the app and it gives you the countdown as to how much more you need to spend til you receive your intro offer it says I must spend these amounts in 3 months. I'm glad I have to pay some tuition, travel, and family temple fees so I'll meet the spend for both in 2 months but sheesh! Has anyone else signed up with the 6 month time frame but actually received only a 3 month time frame for spending ?? Just wondering. Also double check so you don't miss out on your bonus !

i checked with the chat agent and they confirmed that even though when I applied the offer stated I'd have 6 months to meet minimum spend on both cards I actually only had 6 months to meet minimum spend on my platinum card. For the gold card I only had 3 months to meet minimum spend. Moral of the story double check your minimum spend deadlines !!

I met my spend on both already so I didn't really have to worry about it but I wanted to inform you guys. :} Happy point collecting !

The only time I knew they offered a 6 month spend was when I got the Gold and Plat last spring. When I signed up it was 3 months to do the spend but then they adjusted it to about 6 months only because of Covid. They knew most people who got the card around the first of the year wouldn't be able to make that spend because stores and the like were closed including air travel so they just extended the offer another 3 months. But other than during that time most card companies normally give 3 months from my understanding or at least of all the cards I have do.

Well I just double checked on an incognito browser and the same offers I applied for showed up with same language that states spending must be met "first 6 months of card membership". Maybe they've changed it back to 3 months but haven't updated their advirtised offers yet.

I think this happened to me also.

I spent 6k in 2 months, so it worked out but......

I also missed out on 75k bonus and got 60k.

I also missed out on referral from wife.

I burned Amex in past so I am happy not rocking the boat.

My member date also went back to 2002.

I got my Platinum in mid-November 2020 with the six-month spend timeframe for 100k MRs plus 10x gas/grocery for six months. Had no issues with it and all advertised terms were honored. OP, I would call in and ask.

@newnew2015 I joined the AmEx family in March 2021 with the $300.00 cash back (statement credit) if I would spend $3k in the first 6 months . . . I spent it in 1 month and my statement credit was immediately issued!!!

I think it is still 6 months. AmEx has been tinkering with SUB trackers recently, and they probably still haven't perfected them yet. Best thing to do is just chat or call AmEx to confirm the 6 months.

I'm new to Amex having been approved for my first card with them a few months ago (was an AU a year before that) and what I've learned in this short time, they're app chat feature is amazing! I didn't expect Amex to be this good, and it puts other companies to shame in that department. OP I would definitely contact them about the SUB, yet if you feel you can meet the requirements in 2 months, then no need.

I got the Gold in March and was advertized as 6 months spend. One day I logged in, and it showed 3 months. I messaged them on the app and they reassured me that it was 6 months for the SUB. Best to reach out to them to verify, but I believe you're in the same boat as me with the error on the app/website.

My gold offer was actually shown for 6 months when I applied and then worded as 3 months after I logged in and chat agent confirmed it was 3 months -_- . But my platinum was 6 months.

You have to log in on you phone browser or computer. It doesn't show in the app, but, you can always ask the chat agent !
