How accurate is Amex Preapprovals?

I have had a Delta gold card for awhile and up to a decent CL with it. Well Amex keeps giving me preapprovals for there Gold Card and the Bonvoy card. Just curious what everyone's experience is with it and if I should apply or not.

They're fairly reliable if your overall profile meets their UW criteria. Recent DPs have shown that they're not 100% guaranteed, but again it's very profile-dependent.

I finally pulled the trigger on the Amex prequal via 2 soft pulls 90 days. I've never been denied a credit card app until now! Letter in mail stated reason due to previous acct, so looks like I'm blacklisted as well!

I've read through your experiences of continued denials due to previous account charge offs etc but was excited to see others approved.

History: Delta Gold CL $8400 2008 Filed Chap 7 BK in 2012 w/o discharge at last hearing due to one missing form (which turned out to be a blessing) AMEX was the only cc paying attention to that snafu, they were the only CC to call after, every other card accepted as discharged since all reporting dropped off during first year or so.

I screwed up and didn't apply for any CC until 2017, too afraid of denial (rejection not my cup of tea in any form)...too long since I've seen some amazing CC limits so soon after discharged BK in this forum.

So the Amex Delta debt was never discharged in the bankrupcy? And never paid afterwards? If so, it may be gone but not forgotten, and you're probably on a blacklist.

Congrats on your Amex Preapprovals . . . I hear that they are pretty solid but not 100% guaranteed . . . go for the Bonvoy and I'll be right behind you . . . Enjoy!!!
