Comenity Card - no statements

Just wondering if this is normal:

My Comenity Mastercard hasn't had a statement generated since November. I've used it every month for a recurring bill and pay it prior to statement cut. I thought that since there was activity on the card (even though it ended at a $0 balance), that I should receive a statement.

Now this is pertaining to a paperless statement. I can see my transactions listed, but no statements. I only noticed this because I was curious what the APR on the card was and only had my November statement as the latest available.

It's been my experience across several Comenity accts. that if it's a zero balance they won't issue a stmt. whether or not there was any previous activity.

This has been my experience with the BJ's Elite Perks MasterCard also. No balance, no statement generated. Kind of annoys me because I would like to see "$0.00 due on [insert date a few weeks from now]" when I log in instead.

It appears this practice may not be legal per the CFPB.

Excerpt: "Otherwise, you should generally receive a statement for every billing cycle in which your account has a credit or charge of more than $1, or on which a finance charge has been imposed. Notify your credit card company that you did not receive your monthly statement. You should also file a written billing error notice with the card company. Find out from the card company where to send this notice."

(Yes- a charge/credit and/or finance charge >$1)
But like in OP's case, and mine too for that fact, we're at a 0 zero balance when stmt. would normally generate.

Below ss .... I didn't get a (Feb) stmt. which is indicated in (March) stmt. by reflecting a Feb. $0 balance (1st ss)

Even though I did use the card in Feb, I paid it off early before Feb's stmt cut. $0 balance.

Next ss shows a small balance on the next stmt. (April) as there was a charge still pending when the stmt. cut so I was unable to pif therefore I did receive a stmt.

I am like everyone else, I'd like a stmt. every month...whether they are billing me for an amt. or 0 amt. I'd like one for my .pdf records. The only time I find it useful not having received a stmt. is when I'm contemplating a cli request. I log in and look to see that I've had 3 or 4 stmts. generated back to back. That's kind of handy to me. If I don't have at least 3 stmts. in a row, I don't beg for more.

I also noticed I don't get any statements on comenity cards. This post gave me an idea. I could push a small payment to Comenity MC account to see if it will cut a statement with a negative $5 balance. That way I'd achieve 0 reported balance for AZEO and still get a statement.

I also may switch to using Comenity as my AZEO card so that I always have a statement.

I have one comenity card I have had for years and even if there was activity but the balance was $0 there has never been a statement. I even got a letter once saying that If I didn't use it they would close it even know I had used it a few times just not reported a balance. So now every 3 months or so I let a dollar report so I get the statement and it still shows 0 percent used on my reports. So far that has made them happy and no more letters

@chuckwood I tried to report just a dollar this month hoping I'd get a statement for my Comenity MC. They did a small balance adjustment to leave the balance at zero and still not report a statement.

I may just call them to see how much I have to leave a balance for to get a statement.

$1.01, according to DOC they write off <=$1.00 on statement day

Sorry I should have been more clear. My last statement was $1.28. I think alot of banks including them adjust for $1.00 and under. Sorry for the confusion.

Just to confirm what others have said, I recently messaged them about this very thing on my Eddie Bauer card.

I wrote "If I don't have a balance, to I not get a statement, even as a .pdf?
The most recent statement that shows up on the site is from December."

And I got this reply, "I am with Comenity Bank, which handles your credit card account. I'm
here to help with your account needs.

Please be informed that, if your account had a zero ($0.00) balance
with no activity, no statement will be available for that month and
year.

I did have "activity." I've used the card almost every month, but paid it down to zero before the statement date. I guess they see zero balance last month and zero balance this month as no activity.

Technically, if a statements cuts with nothing to report, thats no activity. Comenity has always been like that for me when i had them. So l9ng as one is paying their purchases i wouldnt worry about not having a statement. Miss a payment, then worry

It Sounds like with Comenity there is a need to periodically report a balance to avoid a letter as noted above by @chuckwood threatening account closure if not used. So apparently they consider it inactive after a period of time based only on the statement balance of zero and do not measure activity. How many months of zero balance did it take to get the letter.

I had recently received an automatic CLI from my Comenity MC about 8 months after it was converted from a Wayfair store card. I'm wondering if I'd have better chances of future CLI if I let a balance report each month or if that doesn't make any difference. If their looking at months with a zero balance as inactivity this may be a factor

Im also at AZEO right now so not wanting to report two cards with a balance. I could overpay by more than a dollar to get a statement but Comenity does not let you overpay by a certain percentage. So there is the option to push a payment through bill pay.

FYI, I just got a Comenity CLI on a card that had not posted a statement (due to zero balance each month) since well before my last CLI on this card.

I too am considering letting a small amount report once in a while just to avoid any hiccups. I'm thinking a could pay all but $12 before the statement date and that would be 0.4% of my 2850 limit. So it should report 0% utilization, but have something there to generate a statement.

@mgood Sounds like a good idea to just report a small balance every few months or so. I have a $2,000 CL so reporting anywhere from 2 to 8 dollars should keep it under 1/2 percent and report zero utilization but would probably still count as an account with a balance for AZEO purposes.

As far as Azeo my Comenty MC which is new will never be reporting a balance so if they want to close it even though I use it through the month then they can close it. Not going to let something I dont want to report report just for the issuing bank.
