For those of you with Synchrony/Lowe's CCs..

This question goes to those with this card who are not buying stuff all the time for their home.

What are you using this card for to keep it active?

Made a few decent sized purchases on it when I first got it, but now I haven't used it in 238 days.

Trying to find some small items I can buy here and there every few months to keep it active.

Any suggestions?

There's plenty of things at Lowe's that you'd normally purchase somewhere else, but COULD purchase to keep your card alive.

In humid climates, a 4-pack of DampRid hanging moisture absorbers to hang in closets, bathroom and laundry room cupboards, campers, and trailers. Each one needs to be replaced every 21 to 60 days, depending upon how humid it is. Lowes often had the best price when I was buying these last year and the year before: $8.98 versus $9.99 to $12.99 elsewhere.

As others have said, drinks or snacks by the checkout is an easy option, lol. But also batteries, household cleaning supplies, garbage bags, charcoal/wood chips/pellets for grilling/smoking, firewood.

If I had a Lowes card now, I'd treat it like I do with Home Depot. An occasional purchase here and there for stuff I need, like some plungers I bought the other day and etc. Just when the opportunity arises but if I wasn't using the cards at all, I'd just buy something small like water or something or look at some cheap stuff they sell online and do that. Even Home Depot sold cheap headphones online somehow for example.

The sync cards I have are Amazon and CareCredit and I do have legit use for both of them I used the latter to finance some prescription glasses I needed and already paid it down by $200 or so.

In addition to swiping every now and then, you should set up $1 billpay on all cards (in addition to having them all on autopay to avoid lates) every 3-6 months to keep them active. This generates a transaction when they process the payment and when they send the refund and keeps most cards alive. That said, you can spend less that $1 at Lowes by buying a nail. It is pretty easy to keep a Lowes Charge active (which is why my account closures below are so dumb of me)

I can't go more than 30 days without finding something ~~my wife~~ I need to "fix" in our house...

Lowe's carries a nice variety of home essentials; cleaning supplies, paper towels, tape, pens/pencils, household organization, surge protectors, etc.

I made a mistake of letting a card go 180 days without using it while it had a zero balance. I used it ONCE for a 100.00 purchase which is 2% of the balance on the card and my score dropped 20 points! It seems the sweet spot for me is 180 days, if I go over that without using a card I get a credit score drop. Not sure if it works that way for anyone else, but I make sure to at least spend a few bucks before I hit that 180 days.

Buy whatever, they sell so much at Lowes I am sure you can find something, even if it is paper towels.

I'm sorry, but is this a serious question??? If you have a Lowe's card, I'm assuming you have a home.

You can buy a nail if you wanted to just keep it active. They love closing cards for Non-use. Just buy something and pay it.
