Cool. Great idea. Thanks for the insight. I think I like Citibank other cards and well as their little perks so that seems like a good way to go. Also, I got a preapproval letter in the mail from them so I may fare better with the approval and hopefully a nice SCL.

I got a little spin happy and acquired some credit card and am now looking to apply for a BT card. Citi is always sending me offer and most often Citi Diamond Preferred. I'm thinking I should jump on it but looked at other BT cards with longer 0% terms and came across US Bank Platinum. Citi has 18mo 0% and US Bank has 20mo 0%. Is one better card than other? Are either one known for giving higher sl. Here are my stats: I have 752 FICO. I have three inquiries. One should fall off this month and the other two in 8/21. My CU is 34%. I know and yes I'm embarrassed about my CU.

I don't have an answer to your specific question, but please stop being embarrassed about your util. You said you got a little 'happy' so you've identified why this happened and now you're looking to address it. One thing my time away from the boards has taught me is that time heals all wounds when it comes to credit. Things I would've stressed about when I was a regular on the boards (like how many inquiries I had on each report and when each were slated to fall off), barely earn an eyebrow raise. I say, do what you need to do to remedy the situation, as you're doing here, and learn from the experience.

Also, do you have a relationship with NFCU? If so, I say that you should look into their Plat card which has a $0 balance transfer fee plus 12mths 0% APR. From what I hear, they're pretty generous with SLs.

Good luck in whatever you choose to do!

I have/had both cards.

To note: Both of them can be product changed, so once you've paid them off/no longer need the BT, you can change them to other cards that might be of better use to you (my Plat is now my Cash+)

I decided to keep the Citi as a DP instead of product changing it because I get a lot of offers (5-10% off spend), which comes in handy, plus CitiDeals are kind of nice (They won't make you rich, but free or half off gift cards are nice now and again).

I've been happy with both lines/banks, so I would suggest you check out their other core cards to see if there's something you want down the line (like a Cash+ or a DoubleCash).

They both started off as secured cards for me, so I was essentially able to set my own limits to start - I can't speak to how generous they are or aren't as far as starting - but they've also both given me completely adequate CLIs in my opinion (and that will be based on your own opinion & profile).

Thanks. That certain makes sense. Unfortunately, I have a 30+ year old debt with NFCU that I need to settle with them. I re-applied for membership online a couple of times and they never respond so I'm driving to a local branch this week and plead my I was young and dumb case. Hopefully, they will allow me to make amends whatever that may mean and get back in their good graces. They recently sent me an invitation to apply for a credit card but I think that must have been in error because I went on and tried to apply for membership again after the invitation and I think it told me to contact a local branch.
